Semarang — Another international achievement has been recorded by the Voice of Conservation Choir of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), which won a Gold Award Level II at the 2026 Penabur International Choir Festival in the Mixed Choir Level B category, with a final score of 86.01. The festival was organized by Penabur Intercultural School.
The achievement reflects the strong performance of Voice of Conservation in competing at the international level through choral music. Held under the theme “Harmony in Diversity, One Voice, One World,” the festival provided a platform for participants from diverse backgrounds to showcase their musical abilities while promoting unity and togetherness through music.
In the competition, Voice of Conservation participated in the Mixed Choir Level B category, bringing together choirs composed of mixed vocal groups. The Gold Award Level II, with a score of 86.01, demonstrated the quality of the choir’s performance and earned Voice of Conservation recognition at the international event.
The achievement was also supported by the participation of FISIP UNNES students who are members of Voice of Conservation. Two of them are Syafina Bilqis Ruwahyina Fachmi, a student of the Sociology and Anthropology Education Study Program, and Luvena Aurellya Diskananda, a student of the Geography Study Program.
The involvement of the two students demonstrates that artistic activities and talent development can go hand in hand with academic pursuits. Their experience in participating in choir activities and international competitions also provides opportunities to develop a range of competencies, including teamwork, discipline, communication, confidence, and the ability to adapt to diverse environments.
The festival theme, “Harmony in Diversity, One Voice, One World,” also carries strong relevance to life in a pluralistic society. A choir brings together individuals from different backgrounds to create a unified musical performance. This process requires every member to listen to others, appreciate differences, and work collectively toward a common goal.
For FISIP students, such experiences offer broader educational value because they complement the social competencies developed through academic learning. Interaction within diverse groups provides an opportunity to practice tolerance, communication, solidarity, and collaboration, all of which are essential elements of social life.
Voice of Conservation’s achievement at the international festival also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through the development of students’ competencies, creativity, and learning experiences beyond the classroom.
