The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), officially sent off 118 graduates who will take part in the university’s 139th Commencement Ceremony. The send-off event was held at the FISIP Hall in Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang, on June 12, 2026, as part of the preparations leading up to the university-wide graduation ceremony.

More than a celebration of academic achievement, the event also provided graduates with financial literacy training to help them navigate life after university. The session was delivered by Joshua Christopher Daniel, Growth Acquisition at blu by BCA, who emphasized the importance of sound financial planning for young professionals and graduates pursuing further education.

The financial literacy session was well received by participants. Ilah Nuridah, a graduate of the History Study Program, said the presentation offered practical insights into managing personal finances more wisely.

According to her, keeping track of income, expenses, assets, and liabilities can help individuals avoid unnecessary spending and make better financial decisions. “The session helped us understand the difference between essential expenses and spending driven purely by desire,” she said.

She added that blu by BCA’s features can support young people in budgeting, saving, separating spending categories, and planning investments.

The event also highlighted the achievements of outstanding graduates. Naia Sophianti, the top graduate of the History Education Study Program, graduated with a GPA of 3.90 and completed her studies in just 3 years, 5 months, and 5 days with highest honors.

Reflecting on her academic journey, Naia said that studying at FISIP UNNES had provided her with valuable knowledge and experiences that extended beyond the classroom.

“My studies not only deepened my understanding of history and education but also strengthened my critical thinking, communication skills, and confidence in expressing ideas,” she explained.

She noted that the academic environment, coursework, and interactions with lecturers and fellow students played a significant role in her personal and intellectual development. Currently, Naia is pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Science Education and hopes to continue contributing to the advancement of education in Indonesia.

Another notable achievement came from Amelia Martha Prabawanti of the Political Science Study Program. Amelia was recognized as the Best Graduate of FISIP UNNES for the 139th Graduation Period, earning a GPA of 3.91 and graduating with highest honors. She completed her undergraduate studies in 3 years, 6 months, and 4 days, achieving the highest academic distinction at the faculty level.

The accomplishments of graduates such as Naia and Amelia reflect FISIP UNNES’s commitment to producing graduates who excel academically while also being prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly dynamic world. Through academic excellence, character development, and practical life skills such as financial literacy, the faculty aims to equip its graduates with the tools needed to succeed in their future careers and contributions to society.

The 118 FISIP graduates will join thousands of other UNNES graduates in the university’s 139th Commencement Ceremony, marking the end of one chapter in their academic journey and the beginning of new opportunities in professional, academic, and community life.
