Semarang – Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) once again held its Sunday Pahing Religious Gathering on Sunday, 14 June 2026, at 7:30 p.m. WIB at the Official Residence of the UNNES Rector, Jalan Kelud Utara III, Semarang. As part of the university’s regular spiritual development program, the event featured KH Muhammad Lukman Hakim, the caretaker of Az Zuhri Islamic Boarding School in Semarang, as the keynote speaker.

The gathering was attended by university leaders and members of the academic community, including the Rector and spouse, the Chair and members of the University Academic Senate, Vice Rectors and their spouses, the University Secretary and spouse, Deans and Vice Deans, Directors and Deputy Directors of the Graduate School, heads of institutes and administrative units, professors, representatives of the Islamic Charity Board (BAI), Rumah Amal, the organizing committee from FISIP, and the Sunday Pahing Religious Gathering team. The presence of participants from various levels of the university reflected UNNES’s commitment to fostering a balance between intellectual excellence and spiritual development.

In his sermon, KH Muhammad Lukman Hakim encouraged participants to strengthen their faith, cultivate sincerity in their professional duties, and view every academic and administrative responsibility as a form of worship and service to society. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining brotherhood, promoting collaboration, and building a work culture grounded in integrity, responsibility, and compassion for others.

The Sunday Pahing Religious Gathering serves not only as a forum for deepening religious understanding but also as an opportunity to strengthen relationships among members of the university community. Through this gathering, participants can share experiences, foster mutual understanding, and reinforce a collective spirit in supporting the advancement of the institution.

The event, which was conducted in a solemn and family-oriented atmosphere, forms part of UNNES’s ongoing efforts to develop individuals who excel not only academically but also in moral values, ethics, and humanity. Such character development is essential for preparing graduates and professionals who possess integrity and are capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

The implementation of this religious gathering is aligned with UNNES’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through character education and moral development, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through the promotion of integrity, tolerance, social harmony, and ethical institutional governance. Through activities such as this, UNNES continues to cultivate an academic environment that is harmonious, values-driven, and sustainable.
