Semarang – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held the 2026 Higher Education Scout Orientation Program for freshmen on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The activity took place at the C1 Hall, Prof. A.T. Soegito Building, FISIP UNNES, as part of the faculty’s efforts to introduce Scout values while fostering students’ character, national awareness, environmental concern, and commitment to sustainable development.
Carrying the theme “UNNES Scouts as a Pillar for Achieving the SDGs,” the orientation was designed around a series of activities combining national awareness, conservation, leadership, and concern for climate change. The program began with participants’ arrival and breakfast, followed by the opening ceremony and the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, the UNNES March, and the Scout Hymn.
Following the report by the Working Group Leader, the event continued with remarks from the Guslat Scout Advisor and the Mabi, who also officially opened the program. The opening session concluded with a prayer and a traditional dance performance before participants proceeded to the main learning sessions and an introduction to higher education scouting.
One of the sessions focused on Kepenegakan, which was followed by a question-and-answer session and the presentation of an appreciation award to the speaker. Participants then received an introduction to conservation and the Gugus Latih, providing them with an initial understanding of Scout activities within the university environment.
Environmental issues also formed an important part of the orientation. Participants attended a session on Climate Change Response, followed by a question-and-answer session. The session provided freshmen with an opportunity to understand climate change while positioning environmental awareness as an important component of student character development.
The orientation concluded with the announcement of the male and female OKPT representatives, entertainment in the form of a solo vocal performance, and a sayonara session.
Through the program, freshmen were not only introduced to Scout activities but were also encouraged to understand national values, conservation, leadership, and environmental responsibility. Strengthening these values is important for students as members of the younger generation who will play an active role in society and future development.
The orientation’s theme, which directly connects Scouting with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also reflects FISIP UNNES’s effort to introduce a sustainable development perspective from the beginning of students’ academic journey. The session on national values supports character building and civic awareness, while the introduction to conservation and climate change response strengthens students’ environmental awareness.
The program is particularly relevant to SDG 4: Quality Education, through learning that goes beyond academic knowledge to include character development, national awareness, and environmental responsibility. The session on climate change response is also directly related to SDG 13: Climate Action, while the introduction to conservation reinforces the commitment to environmental protection as an essential component of sustainable development.
The 2026 Higher Education Scout Orientation Program at FISIP UNNES therefore serves as an important starting point for freshmen to become acquainted with university life while developing an awareness that education, character building, environmental responsibility, and the achievement of the SDGs are interconnected.
