Two students from the Political Science Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Angga Tegar and Lidya Ferbiananda, have been selected as the 2026 Ambassadors of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). They won first place in the male and female categories at the FISIP Ambassador Selection, held at the FISIP Auditorium, Sekaran Campus, Gunungpati, Semarang, on Thursday (October 29, 2026).
The biennial competition brought together 18 participants from various study programs within FISIP. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their capabilities, creativity, and commitment to social issues and faculty development.
Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Arif Purnomo, emphasized that becoming a faculty ambassador involves more than winning a competition or receiving a title. The ambassadors are expected to represent the faculty and take an active role in communicating its achievements and reputation to the wider community.
“Being a FISIP ambassador comes with the responsibility of standing at the forefront of communicating and promoting the faculty’s reputation,” he said.
Angga Tegar expressed his happiness at receiving the title. He also extended his gratitude to everyone who had supported him, particularly members of the Political Science Study Program. For Angga, one of the challenges ahead will be maintaining his enthusiasm while meeting and interacting with different people.
During the competition, Angga presented an initiative focused on empowering people with disabilities through community engagement. His proposed project aims to strengthen community involvement and promote inclusive education in Semarang.
Meanwhile, Lidya Ferbiananda described her achievement as both a great joy and a significant responsibility to uphold the faculty’s reputation. She plans to build on existing FISIP programs while introducing new initiatives that support the faculty’s development agenda.
Lidya also acknowledged that overcoming nervousness and developing spontaneity when speaking in public would be among her personal challenges. Her proposed initiative, titled Suara dan Rasa (Voices and Feelings), aims to provide women with a platform to share their experiences, perspectives, and the challenges they face. Through this program, she hopes to encourage women’s empowerment and create greater opportunities for women to express their aspirations and participate in social life.
The initiatives proposed by the two ambassadors reflect the role of university students beyond academic activities, particularly in contributing to social change. Their focus on disability inclusion and women’s empowerment aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 5 on Gender Equality, and SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities. Through the FISIP Ambassador Program 2026, students are expected to turn their ideas into meaningful initiatives that help create a more inclusive and equitable campus and society, where everyone has the opportunity to participate and contribute.
