Bali — The Political Science Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) visited the Bali Provincial Office of National and Political Unity (Kesbangpol) on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), to learn about local democratic practices and efforts to maintain social harmony amid diversity. The visit was held in the Bali Kesbangpol Meeting Room and was attended by lecturers and students from the Political Science Study Program.
The delegation was welcomed by the Secretary of Bali Kesbangpol, Anak Agung Bagus Suryawan, AP., M.AP., accompanied by the Head of the Division of Domestic Politics, I Made Artanegara, S.STP., M.Si., and the Head of the Division of Ideology, National Insight, and National Character, Drs. I Komang Kusuaedi, M.Si. They presented various achievements and programs implemented by Bali Kesbangpol to strengthen democratic life, maintain social stability, and promote harmony within society.
In his presentation, I Made Artanegara explained that Bali Kesbangpol’s achievement of ranking second nationally in the Democracy Index could not be separated from the support and involvement of various stakeholders, including the community. Bali Kesbangpol also seeks to conduct early mitigation of various issues that could undermine democracy and potentially trigger conflicts within society.
Meanwhile, I Komang Kusuaedi emphasized the importance of fostering harmony in community life while maintaining personal dignity. “As members of the same nation, we must live in harmony and uphold our dignity, which includes our honor, integrity, and self-respect,” he said.
Political Science lecturer at FISIP UNNES, Iwan Hardi Saputro, encouraged students to prepare themselves and take an active role in strengthening democracy and safeguarding the unity of the Republic of Indonesia.
The discussion was highly interactive, with students actively raising questions about the challenges facing democracy in the digital era, including how to address the influence of social media, which is increasingly used by Generation Z. The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the strategies employed by local government institutions to strengthen democracy, maintain social harmony, and promote social stability amid Bali’s diverse society.
