Semarang – The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), won First Place in the Recycled Flower Arrangement Competition held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026.
The achievement was secured by Mrs. Heni Iwan Hardi Saputro and Mrs. Rizqi Amalia Didi Pramono, who represented DWP FISIP UNNES in the competition held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Prof. Wuryanto Auditorium Building, UNNES. The competition was part of a series of activities organized at UNNES to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.
The competition challenged participants to develop their creativity by transforming recycled materials into decorative flower arrangements. DWP FISIP UNNES’s participation not only provided an opportunity to demonstrate creativity and teamwork but also strengthened environmental awareness through the reuse of materials that could otherwise become waste.
Winning first place demonstrates DWP FISIP UNNES’s ability to combine creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness. The achievement also represents the active participation of the FISIP UNNES community and its families in celebrating Independence Day through productive and educational activities.
The activity is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, through the utilization of recycled materials and efforts to raise awareness about waste reduction. Recycling-based creativity also supports SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly by encouraging greater environmental awareness, while indirectly contributing to SDG 13 on Climate Action through the promotion of more environmentally friendly practices.
This achievement is expected to inspire the FISIP UNNES community to continue developing creative activities that not only strengthen solidarity and togetherness but also generate positive environmental impacts and promote a culture of sustainability within the university community.
