The Visual Arts Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) is committed to advancing Visual Arts Education through innovative pedagogy and the preservation of cultural values toward international recognition.
The program nurtures competent educators, researchers, and fine art practitioners through education, research, and community engagement that adapt to contemporary developments. Its graduates pursue careers as fine arts teachers, artists, designers, and creative industry professionals, contributing to the preservation and advancement of fine arts at local, national, and global levels.

To excel in developing Visual Arts Education grounded in innovative pedagogy and the preservation of cultural values toward achieving international recognition.

 

Mission

1. To provide education in fine arts pedagogy that is innovative, conservation-oriented, and internationally standardized, producing outstanding, creative, and ethical educators and art practitioners.
2. To advance scientific research, artistic practice, and pedagogical studies in Visual Arts Education that strengthen cultural values, preserve artistic heritage, and integrate modern technologies in art education and creation.
3. To conduct community service in fine arts through educational, collaborative, and creative empowerment activities rooted in cultural conservation and local wisdom to enhance public welfare and art literacy.
4. To implement adaptive, transparent, and sustainable academic governance based on accountability, innovation, and synergy in responding to global educational and cultural dynamics.
5. To establish strategic partnerships at local, national, and international levels in education, research, and art practice to strengthen the academic and professional reputation of the study program globally.

 

Goals

1. To produce graduates who excel in Visual Arts Education with pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies grounded in cultural conservation values and capable of competing at national and international levels.
2. To generate innovative research and academic works in fine arts and art education that are relevant to societal needs and contribute to the advancement of science, technology, arts, and culture.
3. To implement research-based community service programs that empower creative communities, preserve traditional arts, and enhance art literacy and appreciation across social groups.
4. To realize adaptive, transparent, and sustainable study program governance with a quality management system that ensures the effectiveness of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (three pillars of higher education), efficient resource management, and internal–external synergy.
5. To expand strategic networks and partnerships with educational institutions, art communities, government agencies, and creative industries at local, national, and international levels to strengthen the program’s academic and professional impact.

The Visual Arts Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) offers various short courses designed to enhance competence, creativity, and practical skills among students and the wider community in fine arts and art education.

  1. Contemporary Batik and Textile Crafts: Training in traditional and digital batik techniques, motif exploration, and local cultural expression.
  2. Digital Media Development for Art Education: Workshops on creating interactive media, digital illustrations, and educational content utilizing modern technology.
  3. Creative Illustration and Visual Design: Introduction to professional illustration concepts, typography, and poster design for the creative industry.
