Competency development is carried out through workshops, trainings, competency certification, encouraging lecturers who have not qualified doctorals to continue their studies, sending delegates to national-international webinars or seminars, joining related professional association institutions, involving inbound lecturers, internationalization targets, and developing other competencies related to teaching, research, and service. The expertise of lecturers in the Javanese Literature Study Program concerns the mastery of theory and practice related to Javanese language, literature, philology, and culture. Many study program lecturers are also practitioners such as puppeteers, Javanese MCs, entrepreneurs, and as editors or publishing editors.
