The atmosphere at Prof. Wuryanto Auditorium, Sekaran Campus, Gunungpati, Semarang, was livelier than usual on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). Since early morning, thousands of new students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) arrived in stages to complete their registration, receive their student identification cards, and collect their official faculty jackets.
A total of 1,390 new students took part in the registration process, which ran from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To ensure the smooth administration of the event, students were scheduled to attend according to their respective study programs.
Among the hundreds of students waiting for their turn was Mailani Qurota Aini, an enthusiastic freshman from the History Study Program. Her registration session was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., but she arrived much earlier.”I left my boarding house at 10:00 a.m.,” said the student from Temanggung.
For Mailani, the day marked the beginning of a journey she had long anticipated. Her passion for history inspired her to choose the History Study Program for her university education.”I feel happy and touched because I have loved history for a long time,” she said with a smile.
The excitement was also shared by Muhammad Rizky Almadani, a new student in the Political Science Study Program. He admitted that he had to wait patiently to receive his student kit because Political Science has the largest number of incoming students.”There are so many Political Science students, so the queue was quite long,” he said.
Despite the long waiting time, the registration process remained orderly. Many students used the opportunity to get acquainted with their new classmates and capture the memorable moment of wearing the university’s yellow academic jacket for the first time.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Prof. Arif Purnomo, welcomed the new students of the 2026 cohort.”Welcome to all new FISIP students of the 2026 intake. FISIP is committed to guiding each of you in achieving your dreams and aspirations,” he said.
The registration process marks one of the first milestones before students participate in the university orientation program. Beyond completing administrative requirements, it symbolizes the beginning of their academic journey as members of the FISIP UNNES academic community.
