Semarang – Students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), have once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. A team of first-year students from the Geography Study Program (Class of 2025)—Alianza Geco, Balqis Dewi Mahanani, Fandi Aolia, and Ken Utari Aisiyah—won Third Place in the National Youth Short Film Competition organized by the RACPA Consortium, a collaboration between JRS Asia Pacific, ESSC, and Percik. The team was supervised by Mohammad Syifauddin, S.Pd., M.Pd.
The competition served as a platform for young people to express their ideas, social awareness, and aspirations through inspiring short films. By addressing issues relevant to society, participants were encouraged to utilize audiovisual media as a tool for education, advocacy, and the promotion of humanitarian values and sustainable development.
The achievement demonstrates that FISIP UNNES Geography students possess not only strong academic capabilities but also outstanding creativity, communication skills, and media literacy in producing impactful works. Through their short film, the team successfully delivered a compelling message that earned recognition from the panel of judges, securing third place in the competition.
The team’s academic supervisor, Mohammad Syifauddin, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the students’ dedication and hard work throughout the preparation and competition process. He noted that the achievement was the result of strong teamwork, creativity, and the students’ commitment to producing an educational work that addresses pressing social issues.
“This achievement proves that our students are capable of utilizing creative media to communicate meaningful ideas that benefit society. I hope this success will inspire other students to continue creating, innovating, and confidently participating in national and international competitions,” he said.
This accomplishment further strengthens FISIP UNNES’s academic culture of innovation and creativity. Beyond bringing pride to the Geography Study Program, it also reflects the faculty’s commitment to encouraging students to develop multidisciplinary competencies through competitive activities that generate positive impacts on society.
The achievement is also aligned with Universitas Negeri Semarang’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participation in the National Youth Short Film Competition contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing students’ creativity, digital literacy, and communication skills. Moreover, the film’s focus on social and humanitarian issues supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by fostering public awareness of peace, justice, and civic participation. The collaboration among students, their academic supervisor, and the competition organizers also reflects the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-organizational partnerships that empower young people to contribute through innovation and creative works. This achievement once again demonstrates that creativity, collaboration, and social responsibility are essential foundations for developing globally competitive, adaptive, and socially responsible future leaders.
