Yogyakarta – Students from the Social Studies Education Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), have once again achieved international recognition. A student team consisting of Gustin Tegar Rinanti, Rifky Ahmad Muhajirin, M. Ariyanto Putra, Nisa Aulia Fadhilah, and Gina Aliyatul Jannah won the Silver Medal and the Favorite Poster Award in the Food sub-theme at the International Future Leader Competition (IFLC) 2026, held at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta, on July 25, 2026.
This achievement demonstrates the ability of FISIP UNNES students to develop innovative ideas that address global challenges in the field of food sustainability. The International Future Leader Competition is a prestigious event that brings together students from universities across Indonesia and around the world to compete by presenting scientific works, innovative ideas, and creative solutions that contribute to sustainable development.
During the competition, the team impressed the judges not only with the academic quality and relevance of their innovation but also with the effectiveness of their visual presentation. The Favorite Poster Award recognized the team’s ability to communicate their ideas in a clear, engaging, and impactful manner, earning appreciation from both the judges and fellow participants. Meanwhile, the Silver Medal acknowledged the project’s academic excellence, creativity, and relevance in addressing future food-related challenges.
The team’s success was made possible through the dedicated mentorship of Siti Ekowati Rusdini, S.Pd., M.Pd., who served as the faculty advisor. Throughout the preparation process, she provided guidance in refining the project concept, strengthening its academic foundation, and developing effective presentation strategies, enabling the students to perform confidently in the international competition.
Siti Ekowati Rusdini expressed her appreciation for the team’s hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit throughout the competition. According to her, this accomplishment reflects the results of consistent learning, strong teamwork, and the students’ willingness to develop innovative ideas capable of competing on the global stage.
“This achievement demonstrates that our students have the capacity to generate innovative ideas that are relevant to global challenges. I hope this success will inspire other students to continue creating, collaborating, and confidently showcasing their abilities in international forums,” she said.
This achievement further strengthens the culture of academic excellence within FISIP UNNES and reflects the faculty’s commitment to encouraging students to actively participate in international competitions as a means of enhancing academic competence, critical thinking, communication skills, and global networking.
The accomplishment is also aligned with Universitas Negeri Semarang’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The innovation developed under the Food sub-theme contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by promoting innovative approaches to food security and sustainable food systems. In addition, the students’ success in this international competition supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening students’ competencies, creativity, and global competitiveness, while also advancing SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the development of international academic networks and collaborations aimed at creating innovative solutions to global sustainable development challenges. Through this achievement, FISIP UNNES students have once again demonstrated that innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence are essential foundations for developing globally competitive future leaders.
