Efforts to preserve the environment continue to be strengthened through various initiatives that integrate social engagement, education, and nature conservation. Through community service programs, university students not only contribute to sustainable development but also foster greater environmental awareness and strengthen social connections within local communities.

The Physics Student Association (HIMAFI) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), in collaboration with its affiliated organizations, the Islamic Physics Study Forum (FKIF) and the Physics Nature Lovers Association (PALAFI), conducted a Community Service Program in Tajuk Village, Getasan District, Semarang Regency, from May 26 to 29, 2026. Coinciding with the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 H, the program was carried out under the theme “Reforestation for Environmental Balance Restoration through Educational Approaches and Collective Community Participation.”
The program served as a platform for students to implement the values of community service, social responsibility, and environmental conservation in a tangible manner. Various activities were organized in collaboration with the residents of Tajuk Village, emphasizing the spirit of mutual cooperation and partnership.

As part of the Eid al-Adha celebration, students actively participated in community religious activities, including the Takbir procession and the slaughtering of sacrificial animals. Their involvement reflected a commitment to supporting local religious traditions while fostering stronger relationships with community members. Through these experiences, students gained valuable insights into the principles of sincerity, togetherness, and social solidarity that characterize the essence of Eid al-Adha.
In addition to the social and religious activities, students and local residents carried out a reforestation program in the Mount Merbabu National Park area. Tree seedlings were planted as part of efforts to support ecosystem restoration and maintain environmental balance. Mount Merbabu was selected due to its strategic role as a water catchment area and as a habitat for diverse flora and fauna that require continuous protection and conservation.
The reforestation initiative was complemented by educational activities, including discussions and awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of forest conservation. Community members were encouraged to recognize that environmental preservation is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from all sectors of society.
The strong participation of Tajuk Village residents was one of the key factors contributing to the success of the program. The synergy between students, student organizations, and local communities created a collaborative atmosphere that strengthened collective awareness of the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
This community service program demonstrated that environmental restoration efforts can go hand in hand with the reinforcement of social and religious values. The Eid al-Adha celebration was not only observed as a religious occasion but also served as an opportunity to cultivate greater concern for both fellow human beings and the surrounding environment.
Through this Community Service Program, HIMAFI FMIPA UNNES, together with FKIF and PALAFI, hopes to inspire sustainable social and environmental awareness among community members. The collaboration established between students and local residents serves as evidence that environmental conservation efforts become more effective when carried out collectively, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally resilient future.
