Brief Profile

The Bachelor of Natural Science Education (BSE) programme at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) was officially established on 6 April 2009 under the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 498/D/T/2009. Since its establishment, the BSE UNNES has continuously evolved to meet national and international standards, preparing competent, conservation‑oriented science educators. The academic vision of the programme is to produce graduates who advance science education through excellence in technological proficiency, learning innovation, and conservation‑oriented instructional practices. The graduate profile (GP) emphasises three key pathways:
1) professional science teachers with strong pedagogical and scientific foundations;
2) early‑career researchers with skills in science education and scientific inquiry; and
3) managers of science education resources capable of innovating and leading in diverse educational settings.
Graduates are also academically prepared to pursue advanced degrees at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in science education, and many are prospective candidates for academic positions in science education. BSE UNNES has continuous curriculum development evolving educational standards, and the strategic vision of UNNES as a conservation‑oriented, globally engaged university. The curriculum integrates scientific knowledge, pedagogical innovation, technological literacy, and conservation values, ensuring that graduates are well prepared to contribute to sustainable science education in both local and global contexts.

    Graduates proficient in pedagogical and natural science foundations can serve as science instructors and learning facilitators. Moreover, graduates exhibit the professional competencies required for twenty-first-century science educators. They can develop and execute student-centered, innovative, contextual, and technology-driven science teaching that aligns with scientific progress and integrates environmental, social, and local knowledge into their learning in the digital era.
  2. ⁠Research Assistant in Science Education
    Graduates possess proficiency as the early-career researchers with skills in science education and scientific inquiry who engage in investigations in the field of science education and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge, educational policies, or science-based solutions to address community issues, subsequently disseminating their findings in scientific forums or publications.
  3. ⁠Science Education Resource Manager
    Graduates possess managerial competencies as designers, managers, entrepreneurs, and evaluators of science education resources, including classrooms, laboratories, schools, and both educational and non-educational institutions. They are competent at managing natural, human, material, technological, educational, and environmental resources in an efficient, inclusive, and sustainable data-driven manner, aligned with modern needs.
