The Higher Education Scout Orientation (OKPT) 2026 organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) provided a strategic platform for new students to build networks, broaden horizons, and develop leadership qualities. Held at the C1 Hall, 3rd Floor of FISIP UNNES on August 23, 2026, the event introduced participants to the Senior and Rover Scout units under Ambalan and Racana Wijaya Tungga Wijaya. Scout Advisor of FISIP UNNES, Ruhadi, emphasized the importance of nurturing solution-oriented student leaders within society. “Through Ambalan and Racana Wijaya Tungga Wijaya, students are expected to form leadership cadres capable of contributing to solving various social challenges,” Ruhadi explained. One of the participants from Social Studies Education, Febri Yanti Fitria Anggraeni, expressed her enthusiasm for the engaging sessions. “One of my main reasons for joining OKPT was to expand my network and knowledge. The event was really exciting and helped us become much more familiar with the FISIP UNNES environment and Scouting here,” Febri shared.

Beyond leadership and networking, OKPT FISIP UNNES integrated deep environmental consciousness through a presentation by the Head of the FISIP UNNES Conservation and SDGs Cluster, Rudi Salam, titled “UNNES Scouts as Pillars of SDG Realization.” Rudi highlighted the crucial role of the Scout movement in preserving nature for future generations. “Conservation is an effort to protect the environment while taking into account its current benefits for human life and maintaining its existence for the future,” Rudi noted. During the session, participants were introduced to technology-based tree planting and care using the 2026 Tree Planting Information System (SIOMON), which utilizes geo-tagging to monitor tree growth periodically until students complete their studies.

The integration of Scouting activities and environmental preservation in OKPT FISIP 2026 directly aligns with three key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, it reinforces Quality Education (SDG 4) by providing holistic out-of-classroom learning spaces to hone independence, responsibility, and student leadership skills. Second, the implementation of the SIOMON 2026 system alongside greening initiatives tangibly supports Life on Land (SDG 15) through sustainable tree care and monitoring. Finally, the initiative contributes to Climate Action (SDG 13) by instilling early environmental mitigation awareness in young campus leaders.
