Profile 2010-2019

On March 12, 2010 Unnes declared itself to be a Conservation University. As a Conservation University, Unnes is determined to apply the principles of protection, preservation and sustainable use of natural resources and cultural arts, as well as being environmentally friendly in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. To oversee this policy, a conservation team was formed in 2009. The Conservation Team is tasked with preparing a plan and blue print to prepare Unnes to become a Conservation University. The existence of a conservation team has an important value because Unnes requires systematic design, implementation and monitoring in terms of conservation development, both physical and non-physical.

In 2010, the conservation team was re-formed as an effort to make Unnes a Conservation University. This team has the task of developing several policies and activities in terms of biodiversity, green architecture and internal campus transportation management, waste management, clean energy, paperless policy, art and cultural conservation, and handling conservation cadres. The areas that are increasingly specialized in the conservation team aim to deal with areas that are the focus of Unnes’ development as a Conservation University.

In 2011, based on the Regulation of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 2011 concerning the Statutes of Semarang State University, the vision of Unnes as a Conservation University became firmer. Since then Unnes has a vision “to become an international standard conservation university, which is healthy, excellent and prosperous in 2020”. This further reinforces the important position of the Conservation University Development Agency as an agency that plays an important role in realizing Unnes’ vision. Since then, the Conservation Team in 2011 became the Conservation University Development Board based on the Decree of the Chancellor of Unnes Number 35/P/2011. The UNNES Conservation Development Agency is one of the agencies in UNNES, and has the task of developing conservation values in the UNNES environment and its surroundings.
