The Conservation Subdirectorate of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Conservation Policy Alignment on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The event was conducted to strengthen institutional commitment to environmental values, character development, and conservation across the university.
The discussion involved 65 young lecturers representing various faculties at UNNES. The forum served as a strategic platform to deepen understanding and align perspectives regarding the direction, challenges, and implementation strategies of conservation policies at the university level.
During the session, Dr. Ir. Ananto Aji, M.S., Head of the Values, Character, Arts, and Culture Section of the UNNES Conservation Subdirectorate, delivered the main presentation. He emphasized the importance of positioning conservation as a core university identity that should be reflected in teaching, research, community service, and everyday academic practices.
According to Dr. Ananto Aji, conservation should not merely be viewed as a program but as a fundamental value guiding the university community. “Conservation must become a living value within the campus environment. Lecturers play a strategic role in integrating conservation principles into learning processes, creating graduates who are not only academically competent but also committed to environmental and social sustainability,” he stated.
The activity represented an important step toward building a shared understanding of conservation development within UNNES. Through alignment of perspectives, lecturers are expected to become active drivers in implementing conservation values in both academic and professional settings.
The Director of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Mulyo Widodo, S.Pd., M.M., highlighted the importance of educator involvement in ensuring successful conservation policy implementation. “Young lecturers hold a strategic position in shaping a sustainable academic culture. Through this forum, we hope to strengthen a common vision and commitment to making conservation an integral part of the university’s tridharma missions,” he explained.
Through this FGD, UNNES continues to strengthen its commitment as a conservation university that not only focuses on environmental management but also promotes character building, cultural development, and sustainability values that generate meaningful impacts for society.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
