Related to SDGs

Equal opportunities serve as a vital key to opening spaces for individuals with disabilities to grow, create, and contribute meaningfully to society. This powerful message resonated during the film screening and sharing session of “Langit Tetap Sama,” organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in collaboration with the Sahabat Mata Community of Semarang City on Friday, September 11, 2026. The event went beyond mere film appreciation, functioning as an educational medium and collective reflection on the importance of building an increasingly inclusive social and educational environment. Through this event, students were encouraged to view individuals with disabilities from a broader perspective—not merely through physical limitations, but by recognizing their potential, capabilities, creativity, and equal rights to access and opportunities in social life.

The film “Langit Tetap Sama” is a creative work produced by the Sahabat Mata Community, an organization consisting of visually impaired individuals. The film conveys profound messages about life, struggle, independence, and the vital role of environmental support for people with disabilities. The screening served as public education demonstrating that physical limitations are never a barrier to producing creative works; given a supportive environment, adequate access, and equal opportunity, individuals with disabilities share the exact same space to develop their capabilities and actively participate in society. Following the screening, a sharing and discussion session allowed students to directly listen to the daily experiences of visually impaired individuals as they navigate education, social interactions, and creative endeavors. The discussion highlighted that true inclusivity requires more than physical facilities—an open attitude, respect for diversity, access to information, and equal participation opportunities are equally crucial in shaping an inclusive campus environment. Through this initiative, FISIP UNNES continues to foster student empathy toward social inclusion and equality while strengthening ties between academia and the broader community.

This inspiring event aligns directly with the achievement of three core pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, it supports Quality Education (SDG 4) by fostering inclusive learning environments that guarantee equitable access for everyone. Second, it promotes Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by advocating for creative spaces and equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities within social and economic spheres. Finally, it embodies Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through a harmonious collaboration between higher education institutions and local inclusive communities to build a fair, sustainable society.
