Seoul, South Korea – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its international academic reputation through the active participation of its faculty members in global scientific forums. Dr. Ninuk Sholikhah Akhiroh, S.S., M.Hum., participated in The 12th International Conference on Culture, Language, and Literature (ICCLL 2026), held on 22–24 May 2026 at Hotel Skypark Kingstown, Seoul, South Korea. Her participation was part of the EQUITY–UNNES Global Fellows 2025: Presenting at International Scientific Conferences on SDGs program, which aims to disseminate research findings while expanding international academic collaboration and networking.

During the international conference, which brought together more than 140 scholars and researchers from around the world, Dr. Ninuk presented her research entitled “Discourse, Power, and Perspective: National and International Media Narratives of Indonesia’s 2024 Presidential Election.” The study examines how national and international media framed the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election through the lenses of discourse analysis, power relations, and the construction of public opinion. The research contributes to the advancement of media studies, political communication, and democratic literacy within a global context.

ICCLL 2026 was held under the theme “Cultural Dialogue across Continents: Blending Traditional Humanities with Global Linguistic and Literary Innovations.” The conference commenced with a plenary session featuring four internationally renowned keynote speakers, followed by sixteen parallel sessions covering a wide range of topics, including education, language, literature, digital technology, and cross-cultural communication. Dr. Ninuk was the only delegate representing Universitas Negeri Semarang and delivered her presentation during Session 14: “Discourse, Identity, and Education in the Digital Age.” The conference provided an important platform for scholars to exchange ideas, enhance academic competencies, and strengthen scholarly responses to contemporary global social issues.

Beyond serving as a venue for disseminating research findings, the conference also opened opportunities for international research collaboration. As a follow-up to her presentation, Dr. Ninuk’s research will be further developed into a journal article and submitted to the Russian Journal of Linguistics, a Scopus Q1-indexed journal, in collaboration with Prof. Juliane House from the University of Hamburg, Germany. This partnership is expected to broaden UNNES’s international academic contributions while enhancing the quality and impact of its scholarly publications.

Dr. Ninuk Sholikhah Akhiroh emphasized that participating in an international scientific conference provides not only an opportunity to present research findings but also a valuable occasion to enrich academic perspectives and establish collaborative networks with scholars from different countries.

“This conference provided an excellent opportunity to broaden my academic perspectives through the presentations delivered by distinguished speakers. It also enabled me to build networks with colleagues from various countries who share similar research interests, opening new opportunities for collaborative research and international scientific publications in the future,” she stated.

The participation of a FISIP UNNES faculty member in this prestigious international conference further demonstrates the university’s commitment to enhancing its global academic standing through high-impact publications, cross-border research collaborations, and academic diplomacy. Such activities constitute an integral part of UNNES’s internationalization strategy to produce research that is not only nationally relevant but also contributes significantly to the advancement of global scholarship.

This initiative also supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting media and political literacy through knowledge dissemination, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by advancing research on the role of the media in shaping public opinion, transparency, and political accountability, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening international academic collaboration and joint scholarly publications with overseas partners. Through active engagement in international scientific conferences, UNNES continues to expand its contribution to building a high-quality, collaborative, and globally competitive higher education ecosystem.
