Semarang – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) once again provided an inspiring learning experience through a Guest Lecture for the Inclusive Education and Gender Equality Course, held on Friday, 5 June 2026, at 9:00 a.m. WIB on the third floor of the A.T. Soegito Building. The event featured Basuki, Chairperson of the Sahabat Mata Foundation, as the keynote speaker, sharing his experiences and perspectives on the importance of inclusive education and gender equality in both social and educational contexts.

The guest lecture was attended by students enrolled in the Inclusive Education and Gender Equality course, taught by Puji Lestari. Through this activity, participants gained insights into the various challenges faced by vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, as well as the importance of creating environments that respect diversity, uphold equal rights, and provide equal access for all citizens. As a practitioner actively engaged in social inclusion issues, Basuki emphasized that education must be a welcoming space for everyone, free from discrimination based on physical condition, gender, social background, or any other identity.

The event was organized as part of FISIP UNNES’s efforts to enrich students’ learning experiences through direct interaction with practitioners and community leaders who possess extensive experience in the field of social inclusion. In addition to strengthening the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom, the guest lecture encouraged students to develop empathy, social awareness, and critical thinking skills in addressing issues of equality and social justice within society.

Through an interactive discussion session, students were invited to explore how the principles of inclusion can be applied across various aspects of life, including education, the workplace, and public services. The activity also served as a platform for fostering a generation that is more concerned with humanitarian issues and capable of becoming agents of change in promoting an inclusive society.

As a token of appreciation, at the end of the event, Puji Lestari presented a Braille book entitled “Women, Politics, and Leadership: Motivating Young Women to Participate in Politics,” authored by Puji Lestari, Moh. Aris Munandar, and Erisandi Arditama.

The implementation of this guest lecture aligns with UNNES’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the provision of inclusive and quality education for all, SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through strengthening understanding of gender equality and eliminating discrimination, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through raising awareness of the importance of reducing social disparities and ensuring equal opportunities for all members of society. Through activities such as this, FISIP UNNES continues to foster an academic environment that is inclusive, humanistic, and committed to social justice.
