Another proud achievement has been made by a student of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Aurora Masayu Nauli (2303070059) from the Sociology and Anthropology Education Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNNES, successfully won the Grand Champion title at the prestigious 4th International Youth Summit (IYS) organized by the Sentosa Foundation on November 5–11, 2025, at Chiang Mai University, Thailand.
In addition to being named Grand Champion, Aurora and her cross-faculty team from UNNES also received several other prestigious awards, including Gold Medal in the Agriculture Category, Silver Medal in the Technology Category, Most Favorite Poster, Favorite Poster in the Technology Category, and Favorite Poster in the Agriculture Category.
In this international competition, the team presented two innovative projects: “Musa Paradisiaca Agrifuture (MPA): Breakthrough Innovation for Optimizing Banana Tree Waste Based on Website to Realize Sustainable Farming and Community Welfare” and “SAMADYA: Skill Development Media Innovation Based on Choju Jinbutsu Giga and Tsukuyomi Fuinjutsu to Improve Young People’s Acceptability to the Career World as an Effort to Realize Sustainable Development Goals.”
This outstanding achievement reflects the strong spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration at UNNES, represented by eight students from various faculties: (1) Aurora Masayu Nauli (FISIP), (2) Ulya Fajar Amrullah (Faculty of Law), (3) Ghulamun Jaizun (Faculty of Engineering), (4) M. Minhal Nabil Atsalits (Faculty of Sports Science), (5) Firman Nazarudin (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), (6) Arin Rosyaida Purwanto (Faculty of Languages and Arts), (7) Lies Norma Tri Utami (Faculty of Law), and (8) Muthi’ Nur Izzati (Faculty of Economics and Business). Aurora and her team’s success not only brings pride to UNNES as a conservation university but also highlights the tangible contributions of Indonesian youth in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
The Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Dr. Arif Purnomo, S.Pd., S.S., M.Pd., expressed his deep appreciation for the achievement. “Aurora’s success demonstrates that FISIP students are capable of thinking globally, innovating across disciplines, and contributing to global sustainability issues. This is a concrete example of how the SDG values are being implemented in academic practice,” he stated.
Through this remarkable achievement, UNNES continues to strengthen its reputation as a conservation-minded and internationally reputable university, consistently producing innovative, competitive, and sustainability-oriented young generations dedicated to the progress of both people and the planet.
