Semarang – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering high-quality academic services through the implementation of the Impactful Internship Program. This initiative represents a tangible commitment to the development of an Integrity Zone (Zona Integritas) toward a Corruption-Free Bureaucracy by promoting professional, transparent, accountable, and service-oriented university governance. Through this program, FEB UNNES ensures that every student has equal opportunities to develop competencies aligned with their academic discipline through experiential learning in collaboration with a wide range of strategic partners.

For students enrolled in non-teacher education programs, the Impactful Internship Program is conducted in various government institutions, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), regionally owned enterprises (ROEs), private companies, financial institutions, industries, and other organizations that have established partnerships with FEB UNNES. These internships provide students with valuable opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in real-world professional settings while strengthening critical thinking, communication, collaboration, leadership, problem-solving, adaptability, and professional ethics as essential competencies for their future careers.

Meanwhile, students in teacher education programs participate in off-campus experiential learning through the UNNES LANTIP (Integrated Teaching Practice Program) or the School Field Experience Program (PLP), developed by the Center for Teaching Practice Development under the Institute for Education and Professional Development (LPPP) of UNNES. The program enables prospective teachers to gain authentic experience in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reflecting on classroom instruction in partner schools, preparing them to become professional, innovative, adaptive, and integrity-driven educators.

The Dean of FEB UNNES, Prof. Dr. Amir Mahmud, M.Si., emphasized that strengthening student competencies remains one of the faculty’s highest priorities in preparing graduates who are globally competitive while upholding strong ethical values and integrity.

“Students must possess comprehensive competencies that extend beyond academic knowledge. They need meaningful experiences in professional workplaces and educational institutions to develop leadership, adaptability, professional ethics, and problem-solving abilities. The Impactful Internship Program reflects FEB UNNES’ commitment to providing excellent academic services through integrity-based governance and sustainable partnerships with diverse stakeholders.”

He further explained that the success of the Impactful Internship Program is supported by FEB UNNES’ continuously expanding network of partnerships. The faculty collaborates with ministries, local governments, government agencies, state-owned enterprises, regionally owned enterprises, private industries, financial institutions, schools, professional organizations, universities, and various national and international institutions. These partnerships not only provide students with meaningful learning experiences but also create opportunities for collaboration in education, research, community engagement, innovation, and human resource development.

The implementation of the Impactful Internship Program also reflects the core values of the Integrity Zone within FEB UNNES. Every stage of the program—from planning and student placement to mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation—is carried out transparently, objectively, accountably, and with a strong commitment to serving both students and partner institutions. By fostering a culture of integrity, professionalism, and service excellence, FEB UNNES continues to strengthen public trust in the quality of higher education services it provides.

In addition to enhancing student competencies, the program contributes significantly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting experiential and competency-based learning. By preparing students for successful careers, the program advances SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Collaboration with industries, businesses, and public institutions strengthens SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Furthermore, the implementation of the Integrity Zone through transparent, accountable, corruption-free, and service-oriented governance demonstrates FEB UNNES’ commitment to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). At the same time, the faculty’s continuous collaboration with local, national, and international partners contributes directly to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Through the Impactful Internship Program, FEB UNNES reaffirms that the development of an Integrity Zone extends beyond institutional governance reforms. It is equally reflected in the continuous improvement of academic services that generate meaningful benefits for students, partner institutions, and society. Guided by the values of Integrity, Accountability, Professionalism, and Service Excellence, FEB UNNES remains committed to producing competent, adaptive, ethical, and globally competitive graduates who are ready to become future leaders and agents of sustainable development.
