History

The Faculty of Economics (FE) Semarang State University (Unnes) as a faculty which was inaugurated in 2006 is the seventh faculty in Unnes. This young faculty has the same role in developing science and education, especially in the economic field as the establishment of Unnes, so that in its journey as a faculty it is currently able to make the Faculty of Economics one of the faculties expected by the community because of the various achievements that have been able to be achieved both within the scope Central Java regional and national level, especially through the Student Scientific Activity Competition (LKIM).

The Unnes Faculty of Economics as a young faculty, its existence is very meaningful for the development of Unnes, where the Faculty of Economics is the embryo of the creation of an institution that is definitively capable of being independent and producing quality graduates who are accepted by society in general.

Regarding the responsibilities carried out, the Faculty of Economics, Unnes strives to maintain the quality of the teaching and learning process which is its main task through managing and adding the required facilities and infrastructure.

We can see the history of the development of the Unnes Faculty of Economics over several periods, namely:

  1. 1965

The existence of FE Unnes started from two departments, namely the Department of Corporate Economics and the Department of General Economics. Where the Department of Corporate Economics is oriented to bookkeeping education or what is now called accounting, while the General Economics Department is oriented to macroeconomic education. From these two economics family majors, they carry out undergraduate education (S1) under the Faculty of Social Sciences Teacher Training (FKIS).

  1. 1982

This period is based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia No. 52/1982, the Department of Corporate Economics and the Department of General Economics merged into one with the name of the Department of Business World Education (PDU) with 4 study programs, namely the Accounting Study Program, the Office Administration Study Program, the Business Administration Study Program, and the Service Skills Study Program. At that time the name of the faculty which was originally FKIS also changed its name to the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS).

Along with the merging of these two economics cluster majors, all the resources available in the two majors are combined and managed into a department. It is at this time that a very large synergy appears in terms of human resources. Good cooperation in terms of research, community service, and academic activities are carried out together and have a positive impact on the development of the department.

  1. 1992

Based on the decision of the Minister of National Education and Culture No. 0463/O/1992, regarding the Statute of IKIP Semarang and No. 0185/O/1995 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of IKIP Semarang, the Department of Business World Education has 5 study programs namely Cooperative Education (S1), Accounting Education (S1), Commerce Administration Education (S1), Office Administration Education (S1), and Education Service Skills (D2). Along with the end of the Diploma Education Implementation Project at that time, then the Business Administration Education study program was finally closed and the name of the Business Education Department changed to the Department of Economics Education.

  1. 1999

In 1999 the Department of Economics Education with the study program of Business Administration, Accounting Education Study Program, Cooperative Education Study Program and Office Administration Education Study Program entered a new phase, along with the issuance of Presidential Decree no. 124 of 1999 concerning the change of IKIP Semarang, Bandung and Medan into universities, then IKIP Semarang changed its name to State University of Semarang (Unnes). With the issuance of the Presidential Decree, followed by the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 278/O/1999 concerning the Organization and Work Procedure of Unnes, as well as the Decree of the Minister of National Education No. 225/O/2000 on the Statute of Unnes. So the names of faculties in the Semarang State University changed except for the Faculty of Education (FIP). Meanwhile, the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS) changed to the Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS). Likewise, the Department of Economics Education changed to the Department of Economics, with this development the department was given an expanded mandate to open non-educational study programs, such as Management Study Program (S1), Accounting Study Program (S1) and Development Economics Study Program (S1).

  1. 2006

With the expansion of the mandate of the Department of Economics to open non-educational study programs, the interest of students in entering the Department of Economics has increased sharply, so that in every new student admission, the Department of Economics is always flooded with applicants, so that the number of students majoring in economics exceeds the number of faculties at the State University of Semarang. then through a long struggle the department of economics was proposed to become an independent faculty, then through a permit from the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 1850/D/T/2006, dated June 6, 2006. and the Decree of the Chancellor of the State University of Semarang No. 59/O/2006 dated June 8, 2006. The Department of Economics changed to the Faculty of Economics (Swadaya) Semarang State University. With this change, the Faculty of Economics has 3 Departments and 8 Study Programs, namely (1) Management Department which consists of Office Administration Education Study Program (S1), Management Study Program (S1), and Office Management (D3). (2) Development Economics Department consisting of Cooperative Education Study Program (S1), and Development Economics Study Program (S1), and (3) Accounting Education consisting of Accounting Education Study Program (S1), Accounting Study Program (S1) and Accounting study program (D3).

  1. 2009

With the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Finance Number 362/KMK.05/2008 concerning the Designation of Semarang State University at the Ministry of National Education as a Government Agency Implementing Financial Management of Public Service Agencies, there have been changes in the organizational structure at the University and Faculty levels. Fundamental changes are found in the organizational structure and this has resulted in a change in the status of the Faculty of Economics. At its inception, the Faculty of Economics was still a self-help faculty. However, with the establishment of the State University of Semarang as the Satker of the Public Service Agency (BLU), the status of the Faculty of Economics is the same as other faculties owned by the State University of Semarang. This change does not change the Academic Structure of the Faculty of Economics which has 3 Departments and 8 Study Programs, namely (1) Management Department which consists of Office Administration Education Study Program (S1), Management Study Program (S1), and Office Management (D3). (2) Development Economics Department consisting of Cooperative Education Study Program (S1), and Development Economics Study Program (S1), and (3) Accounting Education consisting of Accounting Education Study Program (S1), Accounting Study Program (S1) and Accounting study program (D3).
