In an effort to strengthen synergy between higher education and government agencies, the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University (UNNES), conducted a working visit to the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office of Central Java Province on November 11, 2025. The visit was led by the Physics Study Program Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Sc., accompanied by lecturers specializing in earth sciences, Prof. Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc., Dr. Khumaedi, M.Sc., and Fifin Dewi Ratnasari, M.Sc., a member of the Physics Study Program’s MBKM Cluster. The delegation was officially received by the Head of the General and Personnel Section of the ESDM Office of Central Java Province, Ika Haryanti Subyakto, along with technical staff.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the ongoing implementation of the UNNES Physics student internship program at the ESDM Office, which has been running smoothly and providing tangible benefits. The ESDM stated that the students’ contributions have been very helpful in technical and administrative activities, particularly in processing energy and mineral resource data. Students also gain practical experience and a contextual understanding of the application of physics in the workplace. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recommends that each internship application be accompanied by an official cover letter and activity proposal from the study program, so that the program can be more focused and productive. Furthermore, the internship program is also expected to continue with the students’ final assignments. Furthermore, both parties agreed to prepare a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of UNNES and the Central Java ESDM Office as a form of strengthening formal collaboration and establishing the basis for the sustainability of the internship program in the coming years.

The Coordinator of the Physics Study Program, FMIPA UNNES, Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Sc., appreciated the support of the ESDM Office for the implementation of student internships. “We are very grateful for the welcome and good cooperation from the ESDM Office. This internship activity not only provides professional experience to students, but also strengthens the relevance of Physics education to the needs of the world of work. In the future, we hope that this collaboration can continue to develop through joint mentoring programs, applied research, and mutually reinforcing community service,” said Prof. Masturi. He emphasized that this synergy is a concrete manifestation of UNNES’ commitment to supporting the achievement of quality education (SDG 4) and partnerships for common goals (SDG 17) through ongoing collaboration between universities and government institutions.
