The Chemistry Cluster of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University, has collaborated with Sogang University, South Korea through the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) program since 2023 and will end in 2028. This program involves partner universities in Indonesia, namely Semarang State University, Indonesia University of Education and Ganesha University of Education. The program, which focuses on the development of chemistry and chemistry education, has helped various improvements in the chemistry cluster, including improving lecture and practicum facilities, as well as the competence of chemistry cluster students both as prospective chemistry teachers, entrepreneurs and researchers in the field of chemistry.

Following up on the LUPIC programs, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Dr. Sun Yeoul Lee and Mr. Seong Min Kim as LUPIC representatives from Sogang University and Ms. Jeong Mi Kim from the National Research Foundation (NRF) Korea monitored the success of the programs that had been implemented at Semarang State University. The monitoring aimed to see the extent of the success and achievement of the objectives of the LUPIC programs in the 2023-2025 period that had been carried out by the chemistry group of Semarang State University. Monitoring included a review of the fabrication laboratory (fablab) and studio-based smart classroom facilities, as well as a small-scale chemistry laboratory that supports the lecture process and chemistry practicums.

As a follow-up to the program in the fourth year (in 2026), a meeting with representatives of LUPIC and NRF was held again on Friday, November 7, 2025, which was also attended by the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si. and the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Zaenal Abidin, S.Si., M.Cs., Ph.D. This meeting discussed the achievements of the LUPIC program in 2025 and the plans for the LUPIC program to be implemented in 2026. In addition, representatives of LUPIC and NRF expressed their appreciation to the LUPIC team of Semarang State University for their hard work, collaboration, and achievements of the LUPIC programs in 2025, and hoped that this hard work and collaboration could continue for the next three years.
