Kyoto, Jepang – Dosen Program Studi Geografi, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Aprillia Findayani, berpartisipasi dalam Japan Society for Disaster Education Annual Meeting 2026 (防災教育学会 年会費2026年度(第1期)) yang diselenggarakan pada 20–21 Juni 2026 di Kyoto University Uji Campus, Jepang.

Pada forum ilmiah tersebut, Aprillia mempresentasikan hasil penelitian bertajuk “Ethnoscience in Disaster Education: Lessons from the South Coast of Java, Indonesia.” Presentasi ini mengangkat pentingnya integrasi ethnoscience atau pengetahuan lokal masyarakat ke dalam pendidikan kebencanaan sebagai pendekatan yang kontekstual dan berkelanjutan.

Dalam paparannya, Aprillia menjelaskan bahwa wilayah pesisir selatan Pulau Jawa merupakan kawasan dengan tingkat kerentanan tinggi terhadap gempa bumi dan tsunami akibat aktivitas zona subduksi. Masyarakat di kawasan ini memiliki beragam pengetahuan lokal, tradisi, dan praktik budaya yang telah diwariskan secara turun-temurun sebagai bentuk adaptasi terhadap ancaman bencana. Pengetahuan tersebut merupakan aset penting yang dapat dipadukan dengan ilmu pengetahuan modern untuk memperkuat pendidikan kebencanaan.

Menurut Aprillia, pembelajaran kebencanaan akan menjadi lebih efektif apabila tidak hanya mengandalkan pendekatan ilmiah dan teknologi, tetapi juga mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai budaya, pengalaman masyarakat, cerita rakyat, serta kearifan lokal yang relevan dengan kondisi wilayah. Pendekatan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran risiko, membangun budaya kesiapsiagaan, dan memperkuat kapasitas masyarakat dalam menghadapi bencana.

Forum tahunan Japan Society for Disaster Education menjadi wadah strategis bagi akademisi, peneliti, pendidik, dan praktisi dari berbagai negara untuk berbagi pengalaman serta mendiskusikan inovasi dalam pengembangan pendidikan kebencanaan. Keikutsertaan Aprillia dalam forum ini juga membuka peluang kolaborasi riset internasional antara Indonesia dan Jepang, khususnya dalam pengembangan model pendidikan kebencanaan berbasis budaya lokal (culture-based disaster education).

Partisipasi ini sejalan dengan komitmen Universitas Negeri Semarang dalam mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), terutama SDG 4 (Quality Education) melalui pengembangan pendidikan kebencanaan yang inklusif dan berbasis kearifan lokal, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) melalui penguatan kapasitas masyarakat dalam pengurangan risiko bencana, SDG 13 (Climate Action) melalui peningkatan kesiapsiagaan dan adaptasi terhadap berbagai ancaman bencana, serta SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) melalui penguatan jejaring dan kolaborasi akademik internasional antara Indonesia dan Jepang.

Melalui keikutsertaan dalam forum internasional ini, Aprillia Findayani berharap hasil penelitian mengenai penerapan ethnoscience dalam pendidikan bencana dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan kebijakan dan praktik pendidikan kebencanaan yang lebih kontekstual, partisipatif, dan berkelanjutan, sehingga mampu membangun masyarakat yang lebih tangguh dalam menghadapi risiko bencana di masa depan.
