FISIP Alumni Develop Scholarship Program for Students

Universitas Negeri Semarang > Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science > Alumni > FISIP Alumni Develop Scholarship Program for Students

A total of 46 FISIP alumni from various study programs gathered for the Back to Campus event held at the third-floor FISIP Hall, Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang, on October 30, 2025.

The gathering served as an opportunity for alumni to reconnect while reflecting on their experiences and memories as students at FISIP UNNES. Since its establishment in 1965, FISIP has produced numerous graduates who have gone on to pursue careers in various government institutions and private organizations.

Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Arif Purnomo, expressed his appreciation for the strong sense of togetherness among the alumni and encouraged them to continue strengthening their synergy with the university.

“Let us work together to advance our university. Moving forward together, even gradually, is better,” Arif said.

He added that alumni support is essential for the development of the faculty in various areas, including study program accreditation. One of the important components in accreditation assessment is the level of alumni satisfaction with their alma mater.

Arif also opened opportunities for alumni to collaborate with the faculty in research and community service activities in order to strengthen FISIP’s academic reputation at both the national and international levels.

One of the alumni, Dani Miftah, a Geography graduate from the 2001 cohort, proposed that research conducted by lecturers and students be regularly disseminated to alumni.

“Information like this could be shared through alumni Telegram or WhatsApp groups so that everyone can be involved,” he said.

Another idea was proposed by Kusno, an alumnus of History Education, who suggested establishing an alumni organization representing graduates from different study programs. The organization would be expected to manage and distribute scholarships to active FISIP students.

“Scholarships are important for the future of our students. We all struggled together in the past, so let us help them,” he said.

As part of this initiative, alumni scholarships were awarded to 15 students, with each recipient receiving IDR 1,000,000. The scholarship is expected to help ease the financial burden faced by students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The alumni gathering was part of the Semarak FISIP 2025 series of activities, which throughout October featured a variety of academic and entrepreneurship programs, including the Symposium on Water Sustainability and the FISIP Entrepreneurship Expo.
