Semarang — FISIP Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) reaffirmed its commitment to expanding equitable access to higher education through the awarding of the Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik) to two students from Papua on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The scholarship was formally presented at the Second-Floor Meeting Room of the Prof. AT Soegito Building, FISIP UNNES, by Vice Dean I for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. scient.med. Fadly Husain, S.Sos., M.Si.
The two recipients of the Papua ADik Scholarship were Yan Tatogo, an undergraduate student in the Social Studies Education Study Program from the 2023 cohort, and Desko Enambere, a student in the Geography Education Study Program from the 2023 cohort.
The ADik Scholarship is an affirmative education program designed to provide students from designated regions and target groups with opportunities to access and pursue higher education. For scholarship recipients at FISIP UNNES, the program serves as an important form of support for the continuity of their studies while also expanding opportunities to develop their academic potential.
The awarding of the scholarship at FISIP UNNES also reflects the institution’s commitment to recognizing the diverse backgrounds of its students and ensuring that economic circumstances and regional origins do not become barriers to accessing higher education.
The presence of students from Papua at FISIP UNNES is part of the faculty’s efforts to foster an inclusive academic environment and provide equal opportunities for students to learn, grow, and achieve their academic aspirations. Through scholarship support, the recipients are expected to pursue their studies more effectively and complete their education in accordance with their academic targets.
This initiative is in line with FISIP UNNES’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes inclusive, equitable, and sustainable access to education. The provision of affirmative scholarships also contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by expanding opportunities for higher education among students from regions and backgrounds that require additional support.
The awarding of the Papua ADik Scholarship demonstrates that higher education is not solely focused on academic achievement, but also carries a social responsibility to broaden access and ensure that every student has a fair opportunity to build a better future through education.
