UNNES Is Ready to Welcome International Students Through the 2025 Indonesian AID Scholarship

Semarang State University (UNNES) has been officially designated as one of 25 universities in Indonesia to administer the Indonesian AID Scholarship Program (TIAS) in 2025. A discussion on the TIAS scholarship was held in the Senate Room, UNNES Rectorate Building, on Tuesday (August 12, 2025), as an initial step to strengthen global reputation and expand international networks.

TIAS is a prestigious program of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia under the Grant Provision Program managed by the International Development Cooperation Fund Agency (LDKPI) of the Ministry of Finance. This program aims to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the field of education, and serves as a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening solidarity, cooperation, and joint development with partner countries.

Iwan Nur Hidayat, Director of Investment and Fund Disbursement (IPD) at LDKPI, explained that TIAS is intended for civil servants (ASN) or government employees from Indonesia’s partner countries.

“This year, we are targeting more than 150 international students from the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa regions to pursue studies at Indonesian universities. Their presence is expected to serve as a bridge for educational diplomacy while strengthening international relations,” he said.

Iwan added that TIAS scholarship recipients are expected to become future leaders in their respective fields in their home countries. This program, he continued, will continue to be enhanced to provide broader international recognition for Indonesian universities while driving the advancement of national education.

The Head of the SDGs and International Affairs Office at UNNES, Alfath Yanuarto, S.Kom., expressed gratitude for this trust.

“We hope that in this first year, UNNES can attract a sufficient number of students, given that the national quota for 2025 is 176. The target is for at least more than six international students receiving the TIAS scholarship to join UNNES. Their presence is expected to enrich the academic atmosphere and expand UNNES’s international network,” he stated.

UNNES has prepared various measures to welcome international students receiving the TIAS scholarship, ranging from enhanced international services, academic mentoring, to programs introducing Indonesian and Semarang culture. This is done to ensure students can adapt well while gaining a quality learning experience.

By participating in the TIAS 2025 program, UNNES is optimistic that it can expand its international network, enrich the academic atmosphere, and strengthen its position as a world-renowned university. The presence of international students is expected not only to have a positive impact on the university’s reputation but also to serve as a bridge of friendship between Indonesia and partner countries.
