Semarang – The Department of Student Welfare Advocacy (ADKESMA) of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), plays an active role in supporting student welfare by providing information, assistance, and advocacy for various issues faced by students during their higher education journey.

ADKESMA’s service focus encompasses three main areas: disseminating scholarship information, providing a safe space for students, and safeguarding students’ financial rights. These three areas are essential in fostering an inclusive, supportive academic environment that provides equal opportunities for all students.

In the area of educational access, ADKESMA helps disseminate information regarding scholarship opportunities, registration requirements, selection schedules, and various relevant educational aid programs for students. This information dissemination is expected to make it easier for students to gain access to financial support, ensuring that economic constraints do not become a barrier to completing their studies.

Furthermore, ADKESMA pays close attention to the importance of a safe campus environment free from sexual violence and harassment. Through a safe space approach, students are encouraged to utilize a secure channel to voice complaints, share experiences, and seek support when facing uncomfortable situations. Empathetic initial assistance that maintains strict confidentiality is crucial in building student trust. For cases requiring formal follow-up, students can be referred to authorized units or services within UNNES.

The commitment to student welfare is also realized through the protection of financial rights. ADKESMA assists students in understanding information related to financial obligations and rights, voicing aspirations regarding educational financing issues, and ensuring that various constraints faced by students are communicated to the relevant authorities. These efforts aim to promote information transparency and ensure that student aspirations receive proper attention.

The presence of ADKESMA demonstrates that student welfare is not solely related to academic success, but also encompasses access to educational aid, protection from violence, and the fulfillment of student rights. Through information services, assistance, and advocacy, ADKESMA BEM FMIPA UNNES serves as a bridge between students and relevant stakeholders in finding solutions to various student issues.

These efforts align with FMIPA UNNES’s commitment to supporting inclusive and equitable education. Specifically, ADKESMA’s services contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by supporting access to education, SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through attention to the prevention of sexual violence and harassment, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through student welfare and rights advocacy.

By strengthening the role of ADKESMA, BEM FMIPA UNNES is expected to continue serving as a platform for student aspirations and assistance, while promoting a safe, caring campus environment that supports the well-being of the entire academic community.
