The PPK Ormawa implementation team of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (BEM FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), together with members of BEM FMIPA UNNES, held a socialization activity for the 2026 Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) in Peron Village, Limbangan District, Kendal Regency, on Friday, June 12, 2026.
The activity, which took place at the courtyard of TPQ Peron Village, marked the initial implementation of a program entitled “Sengkuyung Desa Peron: Strengthening Eco-Resilience through an Internet of Things-Based Early Warning System to Realize a Sustainable Disaster-Resilient Village.”
The event was attended by 126 participants involving various community elements and stakeholders, including representatives of the Limbangan Subdistrict Office, the Head of Peron Village, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FMIPA UNNES, UNNES PIC, supervising lecturers, student organization administrators, and residents of Peron Village.
The event was officially opened with remarks from several parties who expressed support for the student community service program. The program focuses on strengthening community capacity in facing disaster risks, particularly landslides, which are one of the potential threats in the Peron Village area.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FMIPA UNNES emphasized that the program represents a concrete contribution to society.
“This is a real implementation carried out by the PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA UNNES 2026 team as a form of community service. We hope this program can help the people of Peron Village face potential landslides through a conservation approach and the strengthening of disaster-resilient community capacity,” he stated.
He also added that student involvement in this kind of community service program provides an opportunity to apply scientific knowledge directly within society while building sustainable collaboration between the university and the village.
Carrying the spirit of “Sengkuyung,” a Javanese cultural concept that refers to mutual cooperation and collective work, the program is designed to strengthen environmental resilience and community preparedness through a technology-based conservation approach. One of the main innovations to be developed is an Internet of Things-based Early Warning System to support more effective and sustainable disaster risk mitigation.
As a symbolic start to the program series, the activity continued with a tree-planting action involving all participants. The tree planting was carried out as a shared commitment to preserving the environment while strengthening land conservation functions, which play an important role in reducing landslide risks in the Peron Village area.
The Head of Peron Village expressed appreciation for the presence of the PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA UNNES team and for choosing Peron Village as the community service location. According to him, collaboration between higher education institutions and local communities provides an important opportunity to strengthen village capacity in responding to environmental and disaster-related challenges.
Through this socialization activity, the community was introduced to the objectives, stages, and various programs that will be implemented during the community service period. In addition to building shared understanding, the activity also served as a forum for dialogue between students and the community to ensure that the program aligns with the needs and local potential of Peron Village.
The activity was carried out enthusiastically and participatively. The local community showed support for the program, especially for environmental conservation and disaster preparedness efforts that are highly relevant to the geographical conditions of Peron Village.
Through the “Sengkuyung Desa Peron” program, the PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA UNNES 2026 team expects to help build a more adaptive, empowered, and sustainable village ecosystem. The program is expected to become a foundation for developing Peron Village as a conservation village capable of independently responding to disaster threats through mutual cooperation, technology utilization, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
With synergy among higher education institutions, local government, community organizations, and village residents, Peron Village is expected to become a model for sustainable conservation and disaster-resilient village development in Kendal Regency and other regions.
