Singapore, June 8, 2026 – Students of the Master’s Program in Science Education at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) conducted an academic visit to the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, as part of the International Outbound Mobility program. This activity aimed to broaden students’ insight into further study opportunities, particularly at the doctoral level, while also introducing them to the academic environment and research culture of one of Asia’s leading education institutions.

The activity began with a presentation delivered by Erti Hamimi, a PhD student at NIE. In her presentation, she introduced the profile of NIE as an education and research institution that focuses on the development of educational studies and the improvement of teacher quality. Students received comprehensive information about various postgraduate programs offered at NIE, particularly doctoral programs that provide a wide range of educational research fields.
In addition, Erti Hamimi explained several important aspects that prospective doctoral students need to prepare, including admission requirements, the selection process, curriculum structure, and scholarship opportunities available for international students. She also introduced various academic and supporting facilities at NIE, such as libraries, research laboratories, study spaces, and student services that support both academic activities and personal development during the study period.
Beyond academic matters, Erti Hamimi also shared her personal experience as a doctoral student at NIE. Through this session, students gained a clearer understanding of PhD student life, research challenges, study management strategies, and various opportunities for competency development in an international academic environment. After the presentation session, the activity continued with a guided campus tour to introduce participants more deeply to the NIE campus environment. Students visited several important campus areas while also learning about the history of NIE as an institution dedicated to teacher education and educational research in Singapore. Participants also received information about figures who had led and contributed to the development of NIE into a world-class education institution.

During the campus tour, students received explanations about the vision, mission, objectives, and various flagship programs developed by NIE to support educational innovation, research, and the professional development of educators.
