UNNES Conservation Cadres Join Clean Up and Mangrove Planting Action at Tambakrejo Beach

A total of 10 Conservation Cadres from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) participated in an environmental initiative titled The Ocean Future Project, held at Tambakrejo Beach, Tanjung Mas, North Semarang, on August 15. Organized under the Ocean Youth movement in collaboration with Nature Conservation Cadres, the program aimed to raise youth awareness and action toward coastal sustainability. The activity featured a coastal clean-up campaign alongside mangrove tree planting to counteract coastal erosion and land subsidence. Through hands-on student involvement, the initiative seeks to clean marine habitats and rehabilitate critical coastal ecosystems across Semarang’s shoreline.

This coastal conservation effort directly supports key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The waste clean-up and mangrove restoration contribute to preserving Life Below Water (SDG 14). Furthermore, planting mangrove barriers supports Climate Action (SDG 13) by strengthening natural coastal defenses against tidal flooding and shoreline erosion. Lastly, the initiative demonstrates Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) by fostering collaboration between UNNES Conservation Cadres and the Ocean Youth movement for environmental sustainability.
