The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (IKA FISIP UNNES), reaffirmed its commitment to educational sustainability by distributing the Education Care Scholarship to students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP UNNES). The activity was held on Friday, 9 January 2026, at 09:00 a.m. (WIB) in Meeting Room 202, Building C8, FISIP UNNES, and was attended by the Dean, Vice Deans I and II, the Chair of IKA FISIP UNNES, as well as Coordinators of Study Programs within Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UNNES.
During the event, scholarships were symbolically awarded to three student representatives, each receiving financial assistance amounting to IDR 1,000,000. The representatives were Katarina Widhia Kusuma (History Education), Rafli Fitra Kurnain (Political Science), and Muhammad Ali Gaddafi (Sociology and Anthropology Education). In total, 15 students from various study programs at FISIP UNNES were selected as recipients of the IKA FISIP UNNES Education Care Scholarship for the year 2026.
The Dean of FISIP UNNES, Arif Purnomo, expressed his appreciation for the alumni’s continuous commitment to supporting students. He emphasized that the program not only helps to ease students’ financial burdens but also strengthens inclusive and equitable access to higher education. “The Education Care Scholarship is closely aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1: No Poverty, by ensuring that students from diverse economic backgrounds have equal opportunities to complete their studies and improve their quality of life,” he stated.
Similarly, the Chair of the FISIP UNNES Alumni Association, Kusno, highlighted that the scholarship program represents a concrete manifestation of alumni solidarity and social responsibility toward their alma mater. According to him, poverty alleviation should not rely solely on short-term economic assistance, but also on long-term investment in education. “We hope that this support will motivate students to continue excelling academically and, in the future, to contribute actively to society, thereby helping to break the cycle of poverty through education,” he remarked.
Through the distribution of the Education Care Scholarship, IKA FISIP UNNES, in collaboration with FISIP UNNES, underscores the strategic role of higher education in advancing the sustainable development agenda. This initiative stands as tangible evidence of alumni–faculty collaboration in achieving SDGs Goal 1: No Poverty, while reinforcing FISIP UNNES’s commitment to producing graduates who are competitive, socially responsible, and capable of contributing meaningfully to sustainable development.
