A proud achievement has once again been recorded by a student of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Gesner Elbaryo Naftali (Student ID: 3401422146), a student of the Sociology and Anthropology Education Study Program, successfully won Second Place in the M21 Elite category in the Central Java–level Sprint Orienteering competition.
The competition was organized by the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) and the Indonesian Orienteering Federation (FONI) of Central Java as part of the Central Java Regional Festival of Recreational Sports (FORDA). The event took place on 5–7 December 2025 at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Surakarta. In the M21 Elite category, Gesner competed against top orienteering athletes from across Central Java. The first place was won by Syadid Hidayatullah from Surakarta City, followed by Gesner Elbaryo Naftali from Semarang City in second place, and Aditya Maulana from Batang City in third place.
This achievement reflects Gesner’s dedication and consistency in developing his athletic potential while proudly representing UNNES at the provincial level. It also demonstrates the ability of FISIP UNNES students to excel not only academically but also in non-academic fields, particularly in competitive sports.
The Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Dr. Arif Purnomo, S.Pd., S.S., M.Pd., expressed his appreciation and pride for this accomplishment. “We extend our congratulations to Gesner Elbaryo Naftali for this outstanding achievement. Success in sports reflects the strong character of FISIP students—disciplined, resilient, and highly competitive. This aligns with our commitment to supporting the holistic development of student potential,” he stated.
Furthermore, this achievement is closely related to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles, and SDG 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes the development of students’ talents, character, and competencies beyond academic learning. Active participation in sports competitions contributes to the formation of healthy, well-rounded, and competitive human resources.
Through this accomplishment, FISIP UNNES hopes that Gesner’s success will inspire other students to continue striving for excellence, nurturing their talents and interests, and contributing positively to the university and society.
