Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held its 136th Graduation Ceremony on Saturday (December 6, 2025) at the University Auditorium. A total of 1,500 graduates were officially conferred degrees, consisting of 12 Doctoral graduates, 94 Master’s graduates, 7 Professional graduates, 1,384 Bachelor’s graduates, and 3 Diploma graduates. The ceremony was filled with emotion and pride as graduates celebrated this milestone together with their families.
In his remarks, the Rector of UNNES highlighted two important achievements that reflect the university’s strong commitment to educational access and social responsibility. The first achievement is the awarding of scholarships to 504 UNNES students by the Educational Trustees Council, enabling the recipients to pursue their studies for free until the eighth semester.
“Students and their parents no longer need to worry about tuition fees, allowing them to focus on learning and achieving a bright future,” he stated.
The second achievement is the solidarity movement of the UNNES academic community in response to the recent flooding disaster in Sumatra. Upon learning about the situation, the university quickly organized a donation drive. Within a matter of days, more than IDR 170 million was collected and distributed to North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh through collaboration with partner institutions in those affected areas. The Rector emphasized that this social concern demonstrates the importance of mutual cooperation as a fundamental value in Indonesian society.
“Although we live in an era that tends to be individualistic, compassion remains a collective value we uphold together. It guides our thoughts and actions to remain empathetic toward others,” he addressed the graduates.
He further noted that this humanitarian initiative proves that solidarity continues to be a defining character of the UNNES community.
Concluding his speech, the Rector encouraged all graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to bring benefits not only to themselves but also to society.
“Knowledge should be like a water tower—its benefits must flow to the people around us,” he conveyed.
He expressed his hope that UNNES graduates will continue to uphold integrity, care for others, and bring positive contributions wherever they serve.
