A total of 24 teachers from the Semarang City Junior High School MGMP for Pancasila Education participated in a Training of Trainers (ToT) program entitled “Enhancing Teacher Feedback and Managing Student Projects with AI Support.” The core ToT activities were held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) as a strategic effort to strengthen teachers’ digital competencies in utilizing artificial intelligence technology for PPKn learning.

This community service program was funded by the Directorate of Research, Community Service, and Innovation (DPPM) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through an official funding scheme for the current year, enabling structured, large-scale, and output-oriented implementation.

The program is a follow-up to the collaboration between the Semarang City Junior High School MGMP for Pancasila Education and the FISIP UNNES Community Service Team, chaired by Yan Amal Abdilah, S.Pd., M.Pd., with members Drs. Tijan, M.Si., and Dr. Muzakki Bashori, S.Pd., M.A. Four students—Deva Dwi Deswitama, Shifa Khaerunnisa, Rahma Danisa Eka Safitri, and Herlina Putri Khawismaya—were also involved as junior instructors, co-teachers, and documentation teams.

The series of community service activities consisted of seven main agendas:

  1. Asset Handover, including webcams and instructional books to support LMS–AI operations.
  2. ToT on Semi-Automated LMS Integrated with AI at FISIP UNNES, training teachers to create online classes, generate automated feedback, manage adaptive HOTS rubrics, and monitor student projects.
  3. ToT on Creating AI-Based Tutorial Videos, equipping teachers to produce educational videos using AI-assisted scripting, voice-over, and auto-captioning.
  4. Dissemination at SMP PAPB Semarang for Sub-Rayons 10, 11, 12, attended by 27 teachers.
  5. Dissemination at SMP Negeri 6 Semarang for Sub-Rayons 8 and 9, involving 30 teachers.
  6. Dissemination at SMP Isriati Semarang for Sub-Rayons 2, 3, 4, attended by 41 teachers.
  7. Dissemination at SMP Negeri 5 Semarang for Sub-Rayons 1, 5, 6, 7, with 29 participants.

During the dissemination, materials were delivered by teachers who had completed the ToT. A total of 127 PPKn teachers across Semarang City benefited from this cascading training. The program successfully enhanced digital competence in AI-based video production and semi-automated LMS management for PPKn, demonstrated through tangible outputs: (1) AI-Based Tutorial Videos: Produced by teachers and uploaded to the official YouTube channel of the Semarang City Junior High School MGMP for Pancasila Education; and (2) AI-Integrated Online Classes: Teachers successfully developed 84 LMS–AI classes for automated assessment and essay feedback.

This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: Strengthening teacher capacity through AI integration.
  • SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: AI reduces administrative workload and teacher stress.
  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: Dissemination across Sub-Rayons 1–12 ensures equitable access to technology.
  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality: With 64% women participants, the program enhances women’s participation in educational technology.

With support from DPPM Kemendikbudristek, the collaboration between FISIP UNNES and the Semarang City Junior High School PPKn MGMP has produced concrete outcomes, including AI-based online classes, instructional videos, and significant improvement in teacher competencies. This program marks an important step toward promoting innovative, objective, and future-oriented PPKn learning aligned with 21st-century educational demands.
