Another proud achievement was made by a student of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Ayunita Pangesti (NIM 2303040196), from the Geography Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP) UNNES, successfully won 1st Place in the W>19 category at the Fo Race Orienteering 2025 organized by the Indonesian National Orienteering Federation (FONI) Jombang on November 8–9, 2025.
Under the supervision of Dr. Andi Irwan Benardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ayunita demonstrated exceptional skills in combining physical endurance, map-reading accuracy, and effective field navigation strategies. Her success in becoming the national champion not only proves the competence of UNNES students in science-based sports but also highlights their contribution to fostering self-development and mental well-being among young generations.
The Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Dr. Arif Purnomo, S.Pd., S.S., M.Pd., expressed his high appreciation for this achievement. “Ayunita’s accomplishment is tangible proof that FISIP students excel in multiple dimensions—not only in academics but also in field-based skills and sportsmanship. This aligns with UNNES’s vision as a conservation university that balances intellectual growth and physical well-being,” he stated.
Beyond being a personal milestone, Ayunita’s achievement also contributes to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Orienteering, which requires critical thinking, teamwork, and resilience, promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle and experiential learning among students.
Through her perseverance and dedication, Ayunita’s success is expected to inspire other students to continue striving for excellence and to contribute to sustainable development through positive engagement in various fields.
