Another proud achievement was made by a student of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Ayunita Pangesti (Student ID 2303040196) from the Geography Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNNES, successfully won 2nd Place in the prestigious G-Espo Essay Competition 2025, organized by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) on October 8, 2025.
Under the supervision of Dr. Andi Irwan Benardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ayunita presented a strategic essay highlighting the role of geography in addressing the challenges of sustainable development in Indonesia. Her work emphasized the importance of mapping regional potential and implementing environmentally based resource management to promote both community welfare and environmental preservation.
This achievement is not only a source of pride for FISIP UNNES but also a concrete reflection of the commitment of UNNES students to innovation and scientific contribution in tackling social and environmental issues. The Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Dr. Arif Purnomo, S.Pd., S.S., M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this outstanding accomplishment. “Ayunita has demonstrated that UNNES students are not only capable of critical thinking but also able to produce impactful ideas that contribute to sustainable development. This is a real manifestation of the university’s conservation values,” he stated.
Beyond academic recognition, this success also contributes to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Through her essay, Ayunita strengthened awareness of the vital role of geography in achieving sustainable and environmentally responsible spatial management.
With her enthusiasm and dedication, Ayunita’s achievement serves as an inspiration for other students to continue creating, innovating, and contributing actively to sustainable development efforts at both national and global levels.
