Semarang, October 25, 2025 — The Sociology and Anthropology Education Study Program Student Association Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), successfully held the 8th National Sociology Competition for Senior High Schools (SMA/MA), bringing together outstanding students from across Indonesia. This annual prestigious event serves as a platform to sharpen participants’ analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and sociological awareness of Indonesia’s social dynamics.
The competition, which began with registration on August 18 and ran through October 3, 2025, reached its grand finale on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the New FISIP Building, UNNES Campus, Sekaran, Gunungpati. The event was officially opened by Dr. Atika Wijaya, S.A.P., M.Si., Coordinator of the Sociology and Anthropology Education Study Program at FISIP UNNES, who emphasized the importance of the competition as a meaningful learning experience for the young generation.
“This competition is not just about winning, but about nurturing social awareness and fostering scientific thinking among students. Through this activity, we aim to prepare a generation that is responsive to social change and capable of making positive contributions to society,” said Dr. Atika in her opening remarks.
The competition was held in five rounds, from the preliminary stage to the awarding ceremony, with a total of 82 top participants from all over Indonesia. After a series of rigorous selections, Stevani Panggelo from SMA Pangudi Luhur Van Lith Boarding School, Magelang, won First Place, followed by Ni Kadek Ayu Trisnanda Getsiani from SMAN 2 Semarapura Bali in Second Place, and Puteri Murni Sanggarhati from MAN 2 Malang City in Third Place.
Meanwhile, Vickoryan Rifqi Firdaus (MAN 2 Malang City), Almaida Nur Aini (SMA Muhammadiyah Boarding School Zam Zam Purwokerto), and Fuza Azana Asshirfany (MA Salafiyah Kajen Pati) received awards as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Honorable Mentions, respectively.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from various leading schools, including Darul Hikam Boarding School Bandung, MAN 1 Sukabumi, Arrohman Islamic International Boarding School Malang, and Gloria Christian High School 2 Surabaya. Participants demonstrated exceptional skills in understanding sociological theories and connecting them with contemporary social realities.
This event also reflects FISIP UNNES’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by providing an inclusive academic competition that promotes equal educational opportunities. Through this program, UNNES continues to nurture a generation of young people who are knowledgeable, socially conscious, and ready to contribute to national and global development.
