Two students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), participated in an International Seminar in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held at the Pusdik Binmas Lemdiklat POLRI Hall, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday (October 22).
The seminar, themed “Optimizing the Role of Police and Society in Crime Prevention to Create Environmental Security and Improve Community Productivity Towards National Food Security”, was attended by participants from the Regular Education Program of Pusdik Binmas POLRI and university students from various public and private institutions across Central Java.
The event featured Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri), Commissioner General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, S.H., M.Hum., M.Si., M.M., as the keynote speaker. In his address, he emphasized the importance of internal reform within the police institution, particularly regarding professionalism, accountability, and public oversight of law enforcement. Also present were Head of the Police Education and Training Institute (Kalemdiklat) Commissioner General Prof. Dr. Chrysnanda Dwilaksana, M.Si., Chief of Operations Commissioner General Dr. M. Fadil Imran, M.Si., and JICA Expert Commissioner General (Ret.) Nakanishi Akira from Japan, who shared international insights on police-community partnerships.
Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Arif Purnomo, accompanied by FISIP lecturer Rudi Salam, highlighted during the discussion session that beyond security, the relationship between public order and community productivity also deserves attention. A secure and stable environment serves as the foundation for communities to be productive, innovative, and prosperous—particularly in strengthening national food resilience.
FISIP students Muaren Anastasia Gardini and Kharina Khukma Fadhila expressed their enthusiasm for joining the seminar, which involved various global institutions, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). According to Rudi Salam, this activity is part of an international partnership program between the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), JICA, and the Ikatan Sakura Indonesia (ISI). Through this forum, POLRI emphasized the importance of synergy among the government, academia, and civil society in fostering a safe, productive, and resilient society against potential social and economic disruptions.
