Semarang, October 6, 2025 — Another proud achievement has been made by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Two students from the Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program, class of 2024 — Millati Islamia Hanifa (2403050138) and Shelly Saputri (2403050129) — successfully won 2nd Place in the National Essay Competition at CARVENOS (Carving Event Sociology 2025), organized by the Student Association of Sociology and Anthropology Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), on October 4–5, 2025.

Carrying the theme “The Synergy of Culture, Society, and Education for Sustainable Knowledge Growth,” the competition encouraged participants to develop critical and solution-oriented ideas to strengthen the relationship between culture, society, and education toward sustainable development. In their essay, Millati and Shelly highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in instilling local cultural values through community-based character education as a strategy to build adaptive and sustainable knowledge in the digital era.

In response to this achievement, the FISIP UNNES academic community expressed their appreciation and pride. The Dean of FISIP, Prof. Dr. Arif Purnomo, S.Pd., S.S., M.Pd., stated that this national-level achievement reflects the quality of academic guidance and the innovative spirit of UNNES students. “This accomplishment demonstrates that FISIP students are not only strong in theory but also capable of competing and contributing to solving social challenges through meaningful scientific works,” he remarked.

This achievement aligns with the efforts of UNNES to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. Through their work, Millati and Shelly have shown that education rooted in cultural values and social sustainability can serve as a foundation for more inclusive and equitable development. It is hoped that this success will inspire other students to continue achieving, innovating, and bringing honor to FISIP UNNES at both the national and international levels.
