Studying culture and society can be done in one way, namely by visiting state museums that have been provided by the government. This is what we as students can do to conserve these values, namely visit one of the state museums in Central Java Province, namely the Ranggawarsita Museum. Novan Bayu Hariyahya, Alifah Novri Arinta, Risqi Ayu Kusumawati, Tarisa Novsida Tarigan, and Hafizh Hanindita from the Geography Department of Semarang State University visited the Ranggawarsito Museum as part of the Socio-Cultural Conservation Project activities. This activity was carried out with the main objective of exploring and getting to know more deeply the cultural heritage that is stored in the museum and being able to develop the social values carried by the museum.
Ranggawarsito Museum is a museum located in the city of Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. This museum was established with the aim of maintaining and exhibiting regional cultural heritage and introducing it to the public. In this museum, visitors can find various artifacts and historical objects related to local culture and regional history. The Ranggawarsito Museum collects and presents various collections that reflect the cultural richness of Central Java. The artifacts include ancient ceramic objects, traditional textiles, weapons, traditional musical instruments, and more. Each artifact has a story and cultural value. Through observing and reading the information provided at the exhibition, visitors can understand its origins, manufacturing techniques, and its important role in people’s lives in the past. Not only does this museum highlight history, but there are also various lessons that can be obtained, such as geography. There are several rocks obtained from various areas on display as a geographical study.
A visit to the Ranggawarsito Museum can provide an in-depth experience for us students, not only for us but for visitors as well. Apart from studying and appreciating cultural heritage, visitors can also be inspired to preserve it as an important part of the nation’s identity and wealth. This museum is an important place for building awareness and appreciation of local culture. Through activities such as observation, discussion, and reflection, visitors can broaden their knowledge of the area’s cultural heritage and history. Because of the many values included in this museum, it has important values that can be conserved for today’s society so that these values are not lost to the next generation. With our efforts to visit this museum, we are included in conserving these values, namely the value of struggle obtained from the previous heroes, the value of togetherness obtained from the togetherness of our ancestors in carrying out social activities, and the value of tidiness and thoroughness obtained from handicrafts such as wood carving, batik, wayang, and ancient ceramics. As well as the cultural values of the community, especially the people of Central Java, which have been passed down from generation to generation, such as traditional clothing, musical instruments, and cultural rituals in the past.
