Semarang, 17 August 2023 – Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has successfully held the 2023 Introduction to Campus Life Program for New Students (PKKMB) with great enthusiasm. This event was held in a lively and memorable manner on the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Thursday, 17 August 2023 at Prof. Dumadi Field UNNES. A total of 10,928 new students participated in this event.

Carrying the theme “Tri Cita Mahesa Initiative for UNNES and Indonesia”, PKKMB UNNES 2023 invites new students to understand identity, environment, and the future, and encourages a healthy adaptation process and equips new students to achieve success in their education. This series of events has the main objective of supporting the transition of new students into mature and independent individuals, as well as providing an understanding of character, morals, and ideals.

 The 2023 UNNES PKKMB presents an enthusiastic atmosphere in the midst of the existing cultural, ethnic, religious and ethnic diversity. This event is a forum for new students to get to know the campus environment more closely, interact with lecturers and fellow students, and understand UNNES values.

Prof. Dr. S Martono, M.Sc., Chancellor of UNNES, welcomed all new UNNES student’s class of 2023.

“We are very happy and proud to welcome thousands of new students who have come from all over the country. PKKMB UNNES 2023 represents the spirit of inclusivity and diversity. Through this activity, we want to encourage new students to make cross-cultural friendships and form quality characters,” said Prof. Martono.

This year, UNNES accepted 10,928 new students from 32 provinces and 297 regencies/cities in Indonesia. From the western end of the country, there were students from Bener Meriah and Aceh Tamiang Regencies, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. From the eastern end there were students from the districts of Marauke, Boven Digoel, Jaya Wijaya, Sarwi, Tolikara and a number of other districts in Papua. Then, from the northern tip of Indonesia, students came from Nunukan and Bulungan (North Kalimantan) and Bitung City (North Sulawesi). Meanwhile, from the southern end there were students from Kupang and South-Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara.

UNNES accepted 10,928 students with a distribution of 2,091 students through the SNBP acceptance pathway, 3,032 students through the SNBT path, and 5,805 students through the Independent Selection pathway. Of the 10,928 students, 60 students came from the ADIK PAPUA Affirmation Scholarship path. There are also KIPK scholarship recipients with a total of 793 students. In addition, UNNES also held an International Admission and 10 students joined. The 10 students came from various countries, namely Timor Leste, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Libya, Bangladesh, and Kyrgyzstan.

The activity was held at Prof. Dumadi UNNES field was designed with full creativity, by presenting various interactive, artistic and cultural activities that enrich the learning experience of new students. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, new students are invited to actively participate in every activity held. Present as a guest star was Indonesian comedian and actor, Praz Teguh. PKKMB 2023 was also enlivened by the appearance of the band, Pertelon Koplo.
