Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) established cooperation with foreign embassies to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education and culture. To encourage academic cooperation and enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and India, the “India Corner,” on the 5th Floor of the Rumah Ilmu UNNES (2/12), was inaugurated to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and India.
The symbolic inauguration was carried out by Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM. as Vice Rector IV for Cooperation, Business, and International Relations UNNES with Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Embassy of India, Jakarta, Mr. Bashir Ahmed, together with Mr. Ram Kumar, Counsellor (Education) & Acting Director of JNICC, Embassy of India, Jakarta and attended by the Head of the Office of International Affairs, Head of UPT Library, Vice Dean III of the Faculty and the faculty cooperation task force.
The presence of India Corner in the Rumah Ilmu is expected to be a forum for the UNNES academic community to expand their knowledge about India. India Corner is a place to learn about India’s history, culture, and recent developments. It is also a center for information about study opportunities, work, and academic cooperation between Indonesia and India.
In his speech, Bashir Ahmed said that India Corner became a strong foundation for education and culture between the two countries. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and promoting various programs that can be carried out jointly between Indonesia and India.
Prof. Nur Qudus hopes that the inauguration of India Corner is one of the steps to build the performance of cooperation between UNNES and the Indian Embassy.
“I hope that the representatives of the faculties present here will be able to maximize their functions, and UNNES can take advantage of cooperation with India,” added the Faculty of Engineering lecturer.
Several programs owned and offered by the Indian embassy, such as scholarships for lecturers and staff, adjunct professors, and exchange students, are expected to be opportunities for cooperation between UNNES and the Indian Embassy. This opportunity is expected to continue to grow and can later bring positive benefits to the academic community and the people of both countries.
