In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has secured a position in the 801+ category for Business & Economics and the 601+ category for education. This achievement underscores UNNES’s status as a leading university in Indonesia capable of competing globally.
The THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025 employs 18 rigorous performance indicators tailored to the unique characteristics of each field of study. These indicators encompass teaching quality, research output, citations, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The rankings are based on comprehensive data, including 157 million citations, 18 million research publications, and a global survey involving over 93,000 academics.
In Business & Economics, this year’s ranking evaluated 990 institutions from 85 countries and regions. The assessment focused on three main disciplines: Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, and Economics and Econometrics. Key performance areas included strategic leadership, organizational development, investment analysis, and applying economic theory and quantitative methods across various sectors.
Meanwhile, in education, the rankings covered 767 institutions from 87 countries and regions. The evaluation included disciplines such as Education Studies, Teacher Training, and Academic Studies in Education, emphasizing the impact of teaching and learning on society by integrating educational theory with real-world applications.
UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., expressed his pride in this accomplishment and extended his gratitude to the entire academic community for their continuous efforts in improving the university’s quality.
“This achievement proves that UNNES is capable of competing globally. We will continue to enhance the quality of education and research to produce globally competitive graduates,” said Prof. Martono.
In Business and Economics, UNNES offers several programs with excellent and international accreditations. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNNES hosts seven undergraduate programs, four master’s programs, and one doctoral program.
