JAKARTA — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (FMIPA UNNES), held its First Semester Leadership Meeting for 2026 over three days, from August 3 to 5, 2026, at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Jakarta. This strategic agenda focused on evaluating the achievement of first-semester Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and formulating follow-up measures to strengthen UNNES’ position as an internationally reputable university and contribute to sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by the Rector of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si.; Vice Rector II, Prof. Heri Yanto, M.B.A., Ph.D.; and Dean of FMIPA UNNES, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si. They were accompanied by the faculty leadership team, consisting of Vice Dean I Zaenal Abidin, S.Si., M.Cs., Ph.D.; Vice Dean II Dr. Isnarto, M.Si.; and Vice Dean III Prof. Dr. Sutikno, S.T., M.T. The working forum was also actively attended by Study Program Coordinators, Laboratory Coordinators, Heads of Laboratories, task force leaders, and representatives of administrative staff within FMIPA UNNES as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and faculty governance.
In his remarks, Rector of UNNES Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si. emphasized the importance of synergy and collaboration across units to ensure that KPI targets are achieved optimally. A comprehensive evaluation was conducted on first-semester performance, covering the eight Key Performance Indicators for public universities, ranging from the quality of graduates, lecturers, and curricula to the quality of the learning environment and the effectiveness of program implementation within each working unit.
The Leadership Meeting featured comprehensive evaluation presentations and action plans from each working unit. The presentation sessions began with the coordinators of undergraduate education programs, followed by the coordinators of pure science undergraduate programs, master’s programs, and doctoral programs. Following the study program presentations, Laboratory Coordinators and Heads of Laboratories from each academic cluster presented evaluations of laboratory utilization and research infrastructure readiness. The discussion sessions were then complemented by presentations from FMIPA task force leaders on optimizing quality assurance, cooperation, and the acceleration of faculty performance indicators, which will serve as the basis for developing strategic measures for the following semester.
In addition to meeting institutional performance targets, the 2026 First Semester Leadership Meeting of FMIPA UNNES specifically integrated all faculty programs and research activities with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a faculty grounded in science and technology, FMIPA plays a key role in supporting the achievement of the SDGs, particularly through the following goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the implementation of an Outcome-Based Education curriculum and improvements in the quality of teaching laboratories; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the advancement of applied research and scientific innovations developed by lecturers and laboratory heads that are ready to be transferred to communities and industries; SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through the strengthening of environmental research and conservation science as distinctive areas of excellence at UNNES; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the expansion of international cooperation in joint research, student exchange programs, and community service based on global partnerships.
Dean of FMIPA UNNES Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si. emphasized that the evaluation results and presentations from all study program clusters, laboratories, and task forces should not remain solely as planning documents, but must be translated into measurable action plans for each unit in the following semester, complete with targets, indicators, and achievement-monitoring mechanisms. The role of administrative staff was also highlighted as an essential foundation for supporting efficient digital-based academic administration and services that respond effectively to the needs of the academic community.
The 2026 First Semester Leadership Meeting officially concluded on August 5, 2026, with the signing of a joint commitment to achieve KPI targets and implement the FMIPA UNNES SDGs action roadmap toward the faculty’s year-end performance objectives while strengthening its contribution to the sustainable development agenda.
