JAKARTA, INDONESIA — The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Semarang (BEM FMIPA UNNES) held an audience with the Deputy Chair of Commission IV of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Firman Subagyo, S.E., M.H., on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
The meeting discussed efforts to strengthen the Conservation Village program in Peron Village, Kendal Regency, as part of the sustainability of the Student Organization Capacity-Building Program, known as PPK-ORMAWA, implemented by BEM FMIPA UNNES.
The program aims to support village development through environmental conservation, disaster mitigation and adaptation, and the strengthening of local agricultural potential. Through this initiative, students are expected to contribute to developing a village that is more resilient, productive, and sustainable.
The President of BEM FMIPA UNNES, Ronaldo Situmorang, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to discuss the development of Peron Village directly with the Deputy Chair of Commission IV.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Firman Subagyo, S.E., M.H., for receiving our delegation. This meeting provides an important opportunity to discuss the sustainability of the Peron Village program so that the community’s agricultural potential can continue to develop through conservation-based approaches and disaster resilience,” Ronaldo said.
During the meeting, BEM FMIPA UNNES representatives presented the program’s proposed direction and activities to be implemented with the local community. The discussion also emphasized the importance of collaboration among students, the government, universities, and other stakeholders to ensure that the program creates sustainable benefits.

As a demonstration of its commitment to the program, BEM FMIPA UNNES submitted a proposal for the development of Peron Conservation Village to Firman Subagyo. The proposal outlined planned activities and potential forms of collaboration to support conservation-based village development and disaster resilience.
Firman Subagyo welcomed the initiative proposed by FMIPA UNNES students. He stated that the program reflected students’ awareness of environmental issues and their commitment to rural community development.
“The program developed by FMIPA UNNES students reflects a strong commitment to conservation and resilient village development. We will coordinate the proposal with the relevant government agencies as a follow-up step toward building collaboration that benefits the community,” Firman said.
The meeting is expected to serve as an initial step toward strengthening cooperation among students, the university, the government, and the local community. Such collaboration is essential to ensure the sustainability of the PPK-ORMAWA program and expand the impact of community empowerment initiatives in Peron Village.
The initiative also supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Its contribution to SDG 11 and SDG 13 is reflected in efforts to develop a disaster-resilient village and strengthen disaster mitigation and adaptation. The environmental conservation approach supports SDG 15, while cooperation among students, the government, the university, and the community aligns with SDG 17.
Through the program, BEM FMIPA UNNES hopes that Peron Village can develop into a conservation village capable of protecting the environment, strengthening community resilience, and optimizing local agricultural potential sustainably.
