SEMARANG – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), welcomed a delegation from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) as part of the NSC Season 1 with UTHM program on Monday, July 13, 2026.

The activity, held within the FMIPA UNNES environment, was part of an international mobility program designed to strengthen academic collaboration, knowledge exchange, and student competency development in the fields of digital technology and learning innovation.

The series of activities began with a welcome ceremony delivered by the Dean of FMIPA UNNES. The welcoming session served as an initial momentum to strengthen institutional relations between FMIPA UNNES and UTHM through academic agendas, training sessions, and collaborative activities throughout the program.

Through this activity, FMIPA UNNES seeks to provide a cross-national learning space that not only focuses on strengthening academic insight, but also on developing international experience for participants. The program is expected to expand networks among students and lecturers in responding to the increasingly open and global needs of higher education.

After the welcoming session, participants joined the Huawei Certification Preparation Session, featuring Riza Arifudin, S.Pd., M.Cs. as the speaker. This session provided participants with preparation related to technology certification, particularly in digital competencies that are relevant to industrial development and workforce needs.

The session played an important role in preparing students to gain technical understanding, certification insight, and readiness to meet global competency standards. Through this activity, participants did not only receive conceptual material, but were also encouraged to understand the importance of technological mastery in supporting academic and professional career development.

In the following session, participants joined the Game Design Document Workshop delivered by Abas Setiawan, S.Kom., M.Cs. The workshop equipped participants with an understanding of game design document development as an essential stage in creating interactive digital products.

Participants of NSC Season 1 with UTHM attended the Game Design Document Workshop as part of digital competency and creativity development.

Through the workshop, participants learned how ideas, gameplay flow, mechanisms, characters, learning objectives, and visual elements can be systematically organized in a design document. The material is relevant to the growth of the digital creative industry, which requires planning skills, creativity, and technology-based problem-solving abilities.

The implementation of NSC Season 1 with UTHM also reflects FMIPA UNNES’ commitment to strengthening the internationalization of higher education. Through cooperation with an international partner, this activity is expected to broaden students’ learning experiences, improve cross-cultural communication skills, and encourage the development of science- and technology-based innovation.

This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of international learning, digital competency development, and the expansion of students’ academic experience. In addition, the activity is aligned with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) as it promotes the use of technology, digital certification, and creativity development in the fields of games and digital products. This program also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the strengthening of collaboration between FMIPA UNNES and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

Through this activity, FMIPA UNNES hopes that academic cooperation with UTHM will continue to grow and provide concrete contributions to improving educational quality, strengthening student competencies, and developing sustainable international networks.
