The commitment of students to building collaboration with local government was reflected through an audience between the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program, or PPK Ormawa, of BEM FMIPA Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and the Regent of Kendal on Monday evening, July 6, 2026. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Merti Dusun Jingkol event in Limbangan District, Kendal Regency, became an important moment for presenting the proposal of the Conservation and Disaster-Resilient Village program in the Watu Sumong area, Peron Village.
The audience was attended by the Head of BEM FMIPA UNNES, Ronaldo Situmorang, accompanied by Sofiyanto. During the meeting, the PPK Ormawa team presented a program focused on community empowerment through environmental conservation and disaster preparedness.
The Regent of Kendal, Hj. Dyah Kartika Permanasari, welcomed the initiative and emphasized the local government’s commitment to opening space for collaboration with students.
“I warmly welcome the program from BEM FMIPA UNNES through PPK Ormawa. The proposal submitted will be reviewed further, and the Kendal Regency Government is very open to collaboration in supporting community needs, especially for the residents of Peron Village,” said Dyah Kartika Permanasari.
The Head of BEM FMIPA UNNES, Ronaldo Situmorang, stated that the opportunity to speak directly with the Regent of Kendal was an important step in building synergy between students and the local government.
“Through the support of Mas Sofiyanto, I had the opportunity to directly present the PPK Ormawa program to the Regent. Alhamdulillah, this program received a positive response. We hope that the proposal submitted can become the beginning of collaboration among the Kendal Regency Government, the PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA UNNES team, and the Peron Village community so that this program can be implemented sustainably,” explained Ronaldo.
Ronaldo added that the meeting took place while the Regent of Kendal was attending the Merti Dusun event in Limbangan District, making it a valuable opportunity to introduce the program directly.
Meanwhile, Sofiyanto expressed his appreciation for the positive response from the local government toward the ideas brought by the students.
“I want to support every student program that provides benefits to the community. The Conservation and Disaster-Resilient Village program has a good purpose, and we are grateful to be able to present it directly to the Regent and receive a positive response,” said Sofiyanto.
This program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through the strengthening of Peron Village’s capacity as a conservation and disaster-resilient village. In addition, the program aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action) because it encourages community preparedness for disaster risks, including landslides, through mitigation approaches and the use of technology. The activity is also related to SDG 15 (Life on Land) through environmental conservation efforts and the protection of disaster-prone areas. Furthermore, the audience with the Regent of Kendal strengthens SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by opening collaboration among higher education institutions, local government, student organizations, and village communities.
This audience became an initial step in strengthening partnerships among higher education institutions, local government, and the community. Through this synergy, PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA UNNES is expected to deliver a sustainable program and provide real impact on the development of Peron Village as a conservation and disaster-resilient village.
